An unorthodox scenario, but are there any games in your life that you wouldn't mind revisiting despite not being particularly impressed with? Maybe a game you played that you didn't quite fully explore or one you have doubts about. Or a game that you just played at the wrong time, or went in with the wrong attitude and/or approach?

These are the three games I'd give another go, and see if my stance on either will change any

Super Paper Mario (Wii) - Was fairly unimpressed and thought it didn't deliver across the board
Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii) - Incredibly easy if not easy to the point of being dull and boring
Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness - Never gave it a proper try. It didn't grab me quickly enough ig

Probably Death Stranding. It had its ups and downs for me. Some sessions I really liked it, others I borderline hated it.

I find myself thinking about getting the directors cut on PS5 and playing it again and I can't even explain why.

If I wasn't fond of it I probably won't go back to it. Way too many games to play.

I'd probably play through the whole Final Fantasy XIII trilogy, particularly XIII-2, since I skipped them when they originally released. I generally like Final Fantasy games except for Final Fantasy VIII (XV doesn't interest me either given how much was changed).

Not a popular opinion around these parts but I don't think God of War 2018 was that great. It was enjoyable, not the second coming of christ like it was made out to be. I'm down to play it again in a few years when it's onsale for $5 or less, the combat was a lot of fun and it really started to click towards the end so I'd like to have a go at it on a harder difficulty.

That's a difficult one... something like Metroid Prime 3 perhaps. It looked nice, but unlike 1 and 2 it was too heavy on action and the locations and enemies weren't that memorable.

I don't like the Gears games after the second, but I'd be down for some horde mode action tbh.

Still didn't play the 5th one, gotta check that game out.

Hope that this time, they really focus on a strong and independent woman. Would add so much to their universe, make the game a lot more fun and much more important.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst. It was meh compared to the original, but I still liked the gameplay.

Ocarina of Time. I tried it when it just came out. I was very young and didn't see any appeal in it. Maybe I was simply too young to appreciate it.

Do we count franchises? I was never really fond of Gran Turismo. It seemed boring to me. But I wouldn't mind giving it another go.

Witcher 3. I've started it 3 times, got an hour in at most. I don't get it, but i'll give it another bash if it gets a next gen upgrade.

God of War 2018 and RDR 2 for me, combat in GoW just didn't click for me and I didn't like the gear system or upgrade system, wished all that would go away or be less confusing, I don't mind that in other games usually but I didn't like it here for some reason. RDR 2 I hated the controls, the legendary animal hunting didn't work properly for me for hours in a row of playtime, I kept commiting crimes by mistake (which is quite funny to be fair and it took so long to get them off me because I had no money to pay the fine or whatever you do) and I loved the open world missions and side stuff but the story missions were kinda boring.

Breath of the Wild

I finished BotW, but it never truly clicked. I returned to it much later and it clicked more once I started playing the game on its terms rather than my own. Don't explore on foot, just use a horse and follow the road for the most part, things like that. But also, I dumped every stat into health until I could get the master sword so that I could help play around the breaking weapons mechanic as much as possible.

It definitely got more fun, but it will always suffer from its odd choices. Hopeful for BotW2.

Witcher 3. I've started it 3 times, got an hour in at most. I don't get it, but i'll give it another bash if it gets a next gen upgrade.

It took years for W2 to click for me, I would always play for a bit then forget to return to it because it didn't grab me. Even restarted a couple times because I left it years each time. Then it clicked and I really enjoyed it. Only took 5+ years, or something like that. Now that I'm all but done with Elden Ring, I might try W3.

Yea, you can if there are some that fit the premise of the original post, sure. If I'm to add some I'd select the Star Fox franchise, and probably the Halo campaigns. Star Fox because I've only played a half hour of each before I either moved on to a different game (lost my Star Fox Adventures CD disc months after buying it too, unfortunately) but they seemed like they'd be great if you could master the controls. Halo campaigns because I've only played H3 and H4 campaigns to completion (with tons of achievement points) but I never felt like I knew what was going on. The books probably help explain. Maybe the campaigns draw from the books even? I'd like to know the story one day even if it comes down to reading other media to get the full picture. The campaigns were both fun btw, I just had zero idea of all the details. Only thing I can say about each was Armageddon for H3 and the Didact in H4 wanted to or would destroy planets, galaxies? I'm not really sure

Super Paper Mario is definitely a give it another try type of game. I liked it the second chance.
