  1. PC
Thought this would be a good introduction to our various rigs. I'm sure it will be more interesting than ever given the current world wide parts shortage.

I just got my PC last week. Buying Pre built was the only reasonable way in the UK to get a powerful graphics card.

5800x AMD CPU.
Dark Rock Pro 4 Cooler.
3080 MSI Suprim GPU.
B550 Tommahawk Motherboard.
32 gb 3200 Ram.
850w Corsair Fully Modular PSU
Corsair 4000D Airflow case.
256gig Windows NVME
2tb Games NVME

Cost me £2650. I absolutely love it. It runs very, very quiet.. and most importantly no COIL WHINE 😉.

I have a few PCs.

Very similar, except my cpu cooler is a large-rad AIO, power is a 1000w Plat and my OS is on a standard SSD (2tb NVME for games, tho).

CPU - Xeon 1231 v3
GPU - EVGA RTX 2070 XC
Mobo - MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition
RAM - Corsair Vengeance 16 GB DDR3
PSU - EVGA 750 G3 PSU
Storage - 1TB Samsung 860 m.2 SSD and 4TB HDD space
Case - Cooler Master H500
Monitors - Two 27" 1440p 144hz G-Sync monitors (one Dell, one Acer), and a Dell CRT for retro stuff
Audio - KRK Rokit 5 monitor speakers and an M-Audio Air 192|4
Mouse - Logitech G602
Keyboard - Corsair RGB Strafe

I think that's everything important. Sort of a Frankenstein rig, but it does everything I want and then some.

Though I may throw a larger HDD in here just to increase my storage for random BS as they're so cheap now

CPU Ryzen 7 3700x (8c/16t) cooled with water of course because air cooling is for peasants.
RAM 32gb of ddr4 3200mhz 4x 8
MOBO Msi b450 aorus pro mobo
GPU Sapphire vega64, 8gb of glorious HBM2 memory
PSU MSI 700W gaming, can't remember the exact model
CASE is NZXT H700.
STORAGE 1X 1tb M2 SSD AND 3X500gb sata 3 ssd's. I don't use mechanical drives anymore, those are for pussies.
Also got an APC ups with two 17mAh batteries in case of a blackout/brownout.
I'm using a samsung curved 27" 1080p 60hz monitor for my needs.
Also got a 4k tv hooked up to my pc as well. I use it when I'm lying in my bed and playing games on a controller.

i7 5820k
Asus Rampage V Extreme mobo
Gigabyte 3070
32gig ram
a few tera of ssds
Acer Predator X34P
Dell UltraSharp 27"

I really want to build a new machine, but what I have runs everything I throw at it between at 60-120 fps on max @3440x1440, so it'd really be a waste of money.

3080 Gainward Phoenix GS
i8700k at 5ghz
32gb 3600mhz RAM
2tb Samsung SSD, 500gb some cheap SSD
1440p 144hz Acer Gsync monitor

I enjoy it so much.

Long overdue for a complete overhaul lol.

Core i5-4670K @ 3.4GHz
16GB RAM
GTX 1660 Super
1TB SSD

I have absolutely no need to upgrade anything in the above - the stuff I want runs well, and the MiSTer and Switch get more gaming time from me anyway.

I needed something mobile so I got a gaming laptop for home and work.
Currently using a Lenovo Legion laptop that I picked up brand new for around $1200

Specs:

Processor9th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-9750H Processor (2.60 GHz, up to 4.50 GHz with Turbo Boost, 6 Cores, 12 Threads, 12 MB Cache)
Operating System
  • Windows 10 Pro
Graphics
  • NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 2070 with Max-Q 8GB & G-SYNC support
Display15.6" FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS, anti-glare, 144 Hz, 500 nits, Dolby Vision HDR400
Memory16GB DDR4 2666MHz (2 x 8GB)

Not the latest and greatest but still performs very well,( good enough for me anyway ) screen is stunning and got a great deal on it with promotions and coupons .
Has served me very well

EVGA GTX 1080 FTW

Its time to upgrade CPU very soon and GPU isn't up to 4K anymore and thats pretty important to me with this giant tellyvision I use as a monitor.

My flatmate is considering spending ~2.2k on a prebuilt with a 3070 and thats insane to me, I'd want a 3080 for that price. It doesn't even have a stupidly overkill CPU or motherboard for that price.

Where did you get yours @Hostile_18? What he is (potentially) getting is dogshit value compared to what you posted in the OP.

Gladiator PC. Can't recommend them enough. Last time I looked they had 3060, 3070, 3080 and 3090 in stock. Plus free Haribo 😉.

Despite not being able to get a GPU and prices being up on most bits.... I pulled the trigger and bought parts for a new build
This will feel like a massive jump in day to day use.

Going from

Intel i5-4570 3.2Ghz -> AMD Ryzen 5800X 3.8Ghz
Intel CPU Heat sink -> Corsair H150i 360mm Radiator
Gigabyte h81m-hd3 -> MSI B550
8GB DDR3 -> 32GB DDR4
WD Black 1TB 7200rpm -> Samsung 870 SSD
EVGA 500w -> Seasonic Focus GX-650 650w
Enermax Ostrog -> Corsair 5000D Airflow

And Keeping my GTX 1060 6GB until I can land something more modern at a reasonable price.... so like next year lol

2011 MacBook Pro that I mostly use for office programs for work. Upgraded to 16 gb ram and an SSD. Also replaced a dead cooling fan. Dual boots to windows 10 because I occasionally need to use MS publisher.
