Two-and-a-half years ago, we stacked up the then-new Xbox Series S up against Xbox One X, finding that Microsoft's junior console had genuine competition on its hands in the form of the prior generation flagship... but now things have changed. Xbox Series S is now a stronger focus for developers, while One X is finally being left behind - and in some cases, there's the sense that the older machine just isn't receiving the care and attention it once did. Here's Oliver Mackenzie with the breakdown.

Wow. Persona 3 is 30fps with bad framepacing while on Series S it's 60 with good framepacing. Seems like developers are not putting much effort into Xbox One X anymore. Understandable as I doubt they are many still playing on One systems.

Goes to show how much optimisation and coding for the target hardware matters to console games.
There's performance being left on the table with the XOX, purely because it's not worth the time, effort and money to leverage.

It's basically lower image quality and 60fps vs better image quality and 30fps.

In cross gen titles, that is.

True. I have my old Series S lying around in storage, and am a bit clueless as what I should do with it. Maybe some sort of emulation or media machine... idk.

Id sell it, but prefer to keep it around because "you never know"

When the Series X just does everything it does and better, its superfluous. At least my OG Xbox and 360 can play non BC titles

Jailbreak it and use it for emulation. Otherwise I would just sell it since Series X does everything better
