Who would take better care of the Halo IP?

Let's say that fans of the series were thrown a bone and for some reason, Xbox decided to completely sell off their rights to the Halo franchise. And let's be honest, they've already ran it into the ground, if not killed it, so in this hypothetical situation we entertain the rights to Halo being sold to a more competent publisher. Would you prefer for Halo to land in the hands of Nintendo, or would you prefer for Halo to land in the hands of Sony PlayStation?

Old sony i would of said yes but that was back in the ps2 era....since the ps3 its been a long downward trend
Nintendo on the other hand have always been good ...so Nintendo

One Nintendo is evil so no, two Sony is the only company that could make Halo gayer than Microsoft already has.

lol, let it die.

Sony would put a strong female minority person in as a lead and make side quests about deaf oppressed aliens.
Nintendo would make a game without AA.

Don't know what would be worse.

Nintendo wouldn't know what to do with it. Sony would at least try, even if there would be a high chance they fuck it up.

THIS. Nintendo is not into FPS games, especially a franchise like Halo. And them having exclusive rights to a IP they didn't create is no guarantee for success. Look at Bayonetta.

At least Sony has Bungie under it, with them being the original creators of the Halo IP. I doubt though that current day DEI infected Sony would be the best choice to make a new series of Halo games.

Nintendo because then Monolith could do a Xenoblade Chronicles X scale RPG set in the Halo universe, set either on a ring or more likely a shield world. I would also be happy if Monolith could do the same with Destiny which has an interesting setting and premise that I also feel is wasted only as a FPS.

Sony? You will likely eventually half a decade after hundreds of millions of dollars wasted get more Halo titles but they will be just as shit as the 343 Halo titles, potentally even worse with a even higher focus on DEI then over game quality.

Sony just so that the series will remain available on PC. But not under "Bungie" but a new more talented developer

Both sound horrible. Nintendo would probably turn it into something akin to Jet Force Gemini (which would be fun...but not Halo) and Sony would release a cold a sterile turd sandwich.

So if those are the only options....Nintendo. I dont even trust Sony with their own IPs these days.

Nintendo would make some of the best maps since Bungie of old, but I'm uncertain of how great they can make the controls. Bungie had the pacing and space-like feel of Halo down pretty well. Bungie's weapons and item creation were also excellent. Nintendo would most likely be able to match that as well. It's the campaign environments that would need a team like Monolith Soft to jump in, to push the game in the right direction

Neither.

Can't imagine Nintendo with such a franchise, and Sony would neuter halo to be a boring open world.

You know, like Infinite, but with 80 percent more unskipable cutscenes.

IMO the Series never evolved past the original Halo. Aside from the single player story every iteration of online Halo was the same CTF elements with cool vehicles.

Halo 2 and Halo 3 have some of the best Capture the Flag mechanics and maps to play. I used to live for the moments when it would go to CTF or Neutral/Multi Bomb on Halo 2. Halo 3 was great because the lobby got to vote which map and game type was selected. They need to bring back the physics of the flag being able to bounce when dropped in air and moving forward in the next Halo

I dunno, just the dual wielding and energy sword in Halo 2 was pretty influential on FPSs, and the use of powerful consumable items in Halo 3 affected other shooters like CoD, plus the Forge mode. Custom game types was a big influence. The use of multi-occupant vehicles was in Tribes and BF1942 but not much else.

I can't say it evolved a ton but there's a definite progression.

This is one of the strongest takes I've seen in this thread, and largely unfounded. They're no nonsense for sure about their company's IPs and the protection of them, but evil? I don't see it. I would agree with you if it were true. But if anything, Xbox and PlayStation would qualify as being a considerable bit more wicked than Nintendo. It's not for me to judge, of course. But I think what Xbox and PlayStation subject their audience to is abominable. There's no argument for the approval of their relentless injection of homosexual content into their games but they align themselves with LGBQT+ practices which harm the younger audiences who can and will fall into their prey. Kids get inspired by video games every day. Zero reason to have gay shit in them unless you want to ruin a kid's life. Xbox and PlayStation are despicable, not Nintendo. Although, even Nintendo is trying to sneak in flashes of gay content into their games here and there the past two years or so, perhaps testing the waters in their own way? Regardless, persistent gay shit and themes in a video game, there should be a zero tolerance policy adopted by all adults who partake in this hobby

@Dacon for saying Nintendo is evil

Damn…

Nintendo I think if they really tried to 'Nintendify' Halo everyone would hate it and I would love it.
Sony? No chance it's not a cinematic heavy open world with pseudo-RPG elements, crafting and mooovies.

Choose the form of the Destructor?

Mr. Stay-Puff. I hope they'd make it a one-stick arcade TPS like Starfox Assault.

Yeah, IMO the series peaked with Halo 3 from both a mechanical and design standpoint. The set pieces in Halo 3 are among the best in any shooter I've ever played.

Interesting point on Bungie

How they have managed to run destiny 2 into the ground and thought it would be a great idea to greenlight a looter shooter (marathon)in an already crowded market
and not start work on destiny 3.....and also advise sony to cancel most of their live service games apart from Concord and Fairgames......its like they are actively going out of their way to try and fail

Halo has had its day.

I don't think anyone could really make a success there unless they came up with a solid single player experience that changes the formula for FPS games significantly.

Destiny and Destiny 2 are pretty much what the future of Halo would have been and it just all seems to tired and boring.

Maybe some franchises just belong in the past or don't have enough creativity behind them to keep on going and going.

If anyone announced a new Halo game there would be a ton of hype and then the game would never match the hype. Could be Nintendo or Sony or whoever.

They even managed to screw up the Halo TV series.

the tv series was not actually bad but i think the last season having the chief out of his armour for almost the entire season was a bad move

One of the best points made, although Nintendo also has Metroid Prime and Retro... So basically sell Halo to embracer group

Well the question is essentially "would Nintendo or would Sony handle Halo better", right?

We know how Sony handled Bungie, and how they've handled their own FPS IPs like Resistance and Killzone, so there's no reason to expect them to handle Halo differently. Sony would handle Halo badly.

Nintendo? They've never really been an FPS company, and Metroid Prime is definitely not a comparable IP to judge how Nintendo would handle Halo.

We at least have a chance that Nintendo would handle it well. Maybe, maybe not. We know with certainty that Sony would fumble it.

Anybody except for Xbox could. The series still sells extraordinarily well despite 343i botching and 'making' one of the most tasteless entries in the entire series. I think Halo Infinite sold the most copies of any Halo and the games sucks compared to the original trilogy. Halo prints money even when you have a tainted and failed studio like 343i who has to hire countless waves of contractors to come in and make the games for them basically. Xbox can do Halo zero favors at this point. It's alive because Xbox insists on pretending that they have capable studios. They probably have like a dozen decent workers at 343i maybe 15-30 workers tops who nearly kill themselves each week trying to carry the burden that all their other incompetent coworkers create for them. 343i killed Halo and it started with their disgraced MCC release back in like 2014-15, ended shortly after Halo 4 was released

Enjoyed both Resistance and Killzone back in the day.

So, when you put it that way, Nintendo gets my vote.
