Lately I've been thinking a lot about architecture and design. I did not study architecture but I have an increasing interest in the subject and I always thought it was interesting to analyze how cities are built, whether they're classic or more modern. I came to the realization that two of the world's ugliest cities are located in Brazil. The one that takes the cake, for me, is Balneário Camboriú. It is a sort of tropical lame attempt at Dubai and it looks like it was put together by chimps. It's so inconsistent and ugly. It is a beach city with many natural and beautiful landscapes but the urbanization ruined it. It has the biggest buildings in the country. They are so humongous that the beach no longer has sun and they're having to stretch the size of the sand in front of the beach to try to make the skyscrapers shadows smaller. It's a huge fuckup. Take a look at this ugly motherfucker:

Imagine having a paradise-like beach and thinking "let's build a fucking metropolis there, the results are going to be incredible". I mean. Fuck this shit...

Brazil is notoriously known for two things. Tearing down old buildings that were historical and intersing looking and having no plan whatsoever when it comes to building new ones. There is no law to regulate the sizes and stuff like that, resulting in a stupid cityscape like this one.

I almost wish the great flood would come to drown this stupid city and transform it into Atlantis

Next, São Paulo, a very good city to live nearby, has great food from all over the world and many things to do, but damn, it's fucking ugly as sin. Take a look at this urban abortion.

It looks like a fucking endless sea of concrete. Ugly as fuck. If you want to check out how São Paulo looks, watch the episode Striking Vipers off of Black Mirror, it was filmed in São Paulo.

If you add the favelas (slums) it looks even worse. I like to pretend they don't exist. What a fucking abortion. And many people think this looks cool. Bunch of freaks.

Hard to say. I find most cities to be pretty ugly. Some of the newer and more well-to-do locations have a shinier aesthetic and a bit more work put into making them look nice in certain key locations, but even then the bulk of the cityscapes are mostly boring concrete jungles.

Honestly I can't think of any ugly cities I've seen. The ones in the OP are for sure ugly as sin but I've never thought of it. Crazy to think that they have that beach cut can't even use it. Pure insanity.

I could for sure list my favorite skylines though.

I've been in Toronto in 1997 but never went back. I remember it looked really modern albeit very generic. I don't know how it looks now compared to that time. The burbs looked nice though.

I have a friend who went there on a working holiday and he told a story about taking home a Canadian girl who put her finger in his asshole without asking while giving a bj.

Downtown São Paulo also smells like piss. Actually, it smells like a mixture of piss and rotten fruit (due to the huge fruit market it has there) so it has that permanent rotten fruit + homeless + piss scent. Lovely shit.
