Will there ever be a Mother 4?

The first Mother looks alright, haven't played it. Mother 2 aka EarthBound is one of the finest art-styles in all of gaming, and an excellent game overall. Mother 3 looks incredible as well

Is Nintendo really going to shun this video game series forever? It seems like they opt to play it safe every time and avoid Mother 3 like the plague, all because of some freak characters in the game. But is that enough for them to avoid continuing the series altogether, indefinitely?

How long will Nintendo put this IP on hold?

There will never be a Mother 4. A game may release with that name, but the time and place in which the originals were made is gone forever and can't come back, which means the magic won't come back either.

Eventually I believe so. Definitely not Shigesato Itoi nor necessarily Nintendo though!

Also there are Mother 4s all over the world. Our own lives.

This is the plan. We bulk up and lift for 14 months straight, take a flight to Kyoto, Japan and protest (block entrance to doors with our wide lats) at Nintendo Headquarters, demanding Mother 4. In other words, we'll become Whomps and send our message
