The Switch 2 launches this year, MP4 is suppose to launch this year. So....yes. It will either be a launch title or a "launch window" title.

The bigger question is whether it will be any good. Seems like it was in development hell for a while.

Launch window. Not sure 100% if it's day one or not
I am back and forth if it's cross gen or not. I think one of the reasons we haven't heard anything and there has been no direct is because of they announce any info it will tip the hand about Switch 2.
I think its more likely Nintendo just moves it to Switch 2 and deals with the backlash from OG fans. Metroid is about a million or 2 seller which is small potatoes so I think those people would just upgrade anyways.
It will probably use the mouse feature and lauchn around the Switch 2 launch window so they don't want any of that to come out before April 2nd.
It MIGHT be a cross gen game like BOTW but I am leaning towards OGs getting screwed here.
I mean since S2 is BC it will be a launch game. Question is does it have a Switch 2 version

It would not surprise me if there is no Switch 2 version of the game and it just releases for OG Switch. Maybe they will do an upgrade or enhancement patch for Switch 2 owners who want to pay for it.

I could see it being a launch title since it could be used to attract a more "hardcore gamer" demographic alongside the family friendly fun of Mario Kart.

I don't really think Metroid is a big seller though.

If they played it right there's a real opportunity with Metroid since there probably is decent demand for a sci-fi first persons shooter with a solid single player campaign.

We'll be seeing the state of the launch window in about a month anyway.

Last time it was Metroid Dread with like an October 7th release date so maybe it'll land around there again? I guess it all depends on how great the game is too. If the developers created a classic, why not launch with it? It would be the first Metroid game ever to launch on a new Nintendo system

I don't know to be honest. I think if it launches along side Mario Kart it's just going to be ignored. Nintendo might give it a few months so it can have the spotlight and fill up the release schedule

If Switch 2 releases before July: Almost no chance. We have seen too little of the game for it to be released on such short notice.

If Switch 2 releases Sep-Nov: Maybe, but the game has been in development hell for so long that I honestly have little faith it's gonna come out this year. I expect 2026.

It will 100% surely be a cross gen title.

Those are some good points. There's almost no chance that the console releases in June or anytime in Summer, the way I see it. May or September seems like months in which the NS2 might release. At this point any other month would be a head scratcher. To me at least
