Thread: Why are sellers/companies doing this (shipping related)?

I've ordered USB and HDMI extension cables and some other insignificant stuff like a new mouse pad. Everything was ordered on the same day, everything was in stock, in one shopping cart from the same supplier. The order is virtually worth nothing and has as good as no weight and takes no space.
Yesterday they've stated they are shipping everything except the USB cable. Today I've received a notification about the USB cable being shipped to me.
I'll get two parcels, two invoices to pay and the postal guy has to run two times to my place.

This has happened so many times already, with so many suppliers and dealers. Maybe there's a reason for companies to work that way, but as a layman I don't get it. Is there a good reason to ship stuff this way and what are your experiences here?

this happens to me a lot. i figure they have multiple places they store things and its just cheaper for them to send 2 separate orders than get everything together and ship it.
but its really annoying to have to pay shipping when companies do stupid shit like this. how about just give me free shipping and give me everything at once.

Usually if I order something from the same supplier, it comes all in the same package. It must be a warehouse thing, where rather than keep things in the same warehouse they will spread it everywhere and then send two packages for the same order. Perhaps because Australia doesn't have many warehouses, thats why there isn't must splitting going on.
