Thread: Which RPG has the greatest party?
So FF12 is turn based still right?
It's kind of like a mix of turn based with a lot more freedom and nuance and attacking all at once like a mob. You have to wait for your gauge to fill up before you can attack that is the time portion and there is a lot to the combat system

You can move around all over the overworld as you attack. Each battle for every single enemy takes place right where you stand (or move to) in the overworld. If you end up going for it one day teezzy, my advice would be to play with the Gambit system and experiment with it fairly often from the moment in which you're able to. Adjust things to suit your party. Here is a tip to remember if ever you decide to play, perfect each character's Gambit 'setups' early. Start early in building up an impenetrable defense for each player, as well as a powerful offensive strategy designed to each party member's strengths

You can get by even if you sort of neglect the architecture of the Gambit system, that's how I would say I did it as I could have spent a lot more time trying to figure out what works best to maximize how well the units could fight together, battle for battle. But I went the hard way and had to play a ton of hands-on battles. A lot of sweating and close calls on my part, and in some cases I was downright begging for my binky, blanky and warm milk teezzy-san. But if you do it right, and figure out the Gambit system, it can be a thing of beauty. Definitely advisable to master it, but you can get by with pure grit and pushing forward; tactics on the go

Its....ok
I second this. Had a plenty fun because I learned a lot about how to play and approach certain games after my BOTW playthrough. For as many pros as there are to discuss in the game, I would say that the list of cons probably reaches to about the same length. It's the best game of 2006. Liked it more than Twilight Princess. Also, @DonDonDonPata Vaan is my favorite in the whole crew 😤 I spearheaded every major battle with him

Final Fantasy XII and XIII both experimented with combat in interesting ways. I think as time goes on people are appreciating those combat systems more, particularly now that the franchise seems to be moving into a more action focused direction rather than turn based combat.

Even though I think Yuffie kind of detracts from the game's story, the best party in any role-playing game might belong to Final Fantasy VII. To this day I still kind of wonder about the core characters and their past. I actually had more fun, a lot more fun with the cast of FFIX, but FFVII has the better party. Could go on and on about them but they're just a very strong team and it's amazing how many different things they bring to the table as a team. Big fan of how much versatility there is within this squad and you could argue that they're nine deep with possibly seven that could lead if need be. Cloud may be the leader, but any one of them could probably step up if it was needed. The core unit of Cloud, Tifa, Barrett, Aerith, Nanaki aka Red XIII and then Cid when he joined; they're all very strong fighters. Well rounded too

The entire story bombards the player with twist after twist so it's difficult to understand all that happened in one go. Feels like a second playthrough is needed in the future. I like how all the characters are their own, they're probably the most well written characters I can think of, character for character in the party, in any fantasy rpg. Giving a moment to reflect on the game of FFVII itself, it's one of the best games ever created. For its time and especially now in the modern day setting of games. FFVII is a gem
