Thread: What Are You Currently Playing? |OT| Gotta play them all

Did any of you degenerates ever play Sifu and have an opinion on it?

I was immediately intrigued by the visual style when it was revealed and it's always been on my list of games I wanna grab when I see it on a deep enough sale (physically). But at this point, years later, I'm wondering if I should still care about grabbing it.

It's good. I got an extra Steam key for it, if you want it.

I went back and played through Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast for the umpteenth time in my life. Tweaked some configs for 16:9 and 1440p support and it still visually holds up very nicely, there's some texture tweaks and lighting changes you can make too with mipmap configs and it's all so effortlessly easy to do.

The lightsaber combat is so goofy and fun and Raven really did a great job at translating that power fantasy, especially when you have realistic lightsaber combat for chopping off limbs or severing torsos. It's just silly buggers waving at each other with glow sticks but some fights can be so cinematic. Realistic sabers also leads to plenty of comedy when you're fighting and suddenly get your head lopped off mid fight.

I'll probably play through the sequel next as I love the additions in Jedi Academy.

I am really enjoying Illwill, a retro shooter with modern-ish graphics. Plays really well and looks very nice.

Yooo I played that game, really fun retro style shooter. With a bunch of cleverly hidden items, I missed a lot of them actually.

I finished the HL2 RTX demo. The level design still holds up, a lot of fun situations. Ravenholm for the atmosphere, slower paced. The prison with some memorable larger fights. All with that sweet path traced lighting and the new textures.

It's next up on my list after I finish Neon White. I'll give you my two cents when I'm done with it.

I might need an intervention guys.

I started playing a game called Snowrunner for the first time. It was meant to be something I tried out with the kids. But then I made my own save and put it on hard mode and now it's all I can think about. It's literally the dark souls of driving games. I'm closing in on the end of Michigan atm. Haven't even played any of the snow levels yet and I've already got 109 hours...

I can't explain it, but it gives a feeling like no other game ever has. Sitting there hauling a load to out in the middle of nowhere with a podcast on. It's this crazy mix of balls to the wall hardcore and the most zen chill and I love it.

Yep, it's exactly that. I managed to put 100 hours in, before I got diverted by other games. Can't wait for the upcoming RoadCraft. Though Expeditions didn't do it for me for some reason.

Just finished up at Costa Del Sol in Rebirth and I'm back out into another stretch of open world. The open world moments are definitely my least favourite parts now that I have put 20+ hours into the game.

I really enjoyed the Mythril Cave section prior to Junon and also the upper Junon section. It's fun to see parts like these remade and expanded upon.

I picked up Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 this week. No experience at all with the first game but enjoying my time with 2 so far. The depth of content is insane, i'm 25 hours in and I've yet to finish the first main quest it gives you. I'd heard the early hours were brutal as you basically start out in medievil peasant mode, but it's not been overwhelming at all and the combat does start to become intuitive once you spend more time with it. Overall very impressed, lets drink some mead

So I booted up NFS Underground 2 as I want to complete the series.

Did a few races, now I am done with it.

I hate free roam in racing games, feels like a complete waste of time to drive from a to b, whereas in Underground 1 I just went into career mode and picked up the next race.

I dont find it interesting at all to drive around in the city to get to the next race, it feels like a total waste of time.

I played a bit of Mullet Mudjack on Gamepass and it's a pretty cool 90's anime inspired fast paced shooter. You have to get through floors as fast as possible killing dudes to earn time. You get 10 seconds to finish each 10 floors before fighting a boss. I'm having fun but I don't know if it will have legs. Time will tell

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is quite addicting. Map design is very much God of War, you can see how much hidden chests and power ups are on a map and it's fun to go around looking, do some some environmental puzzles to get them all.

There's a cool loot system where when you find or buy a duplicate weapon or armor it upgrades it, unlocking new bonuses. In the end each item is unique and viable. You can't sell them.

Solid game tbh.

Getting towards the end of Fire Emblem Three houses. I think about 3 chapters left to go. The main story has gotten much better in the 2nd half and the battles have always been fun. The monastery and support stuff is getting tedious at this point though.

It's really damn cool, I love the art style and the crazy fast paced gameplay. It's a gem.

Got to the tranny part in Veilguard. One of the crew members read some Rivaini propaganda and thinks she is a non-binary. Gonna try to dissuade her.

I just finished Final Fantasy XV. It was full of jank, but a good game overall. I didn't really do any of the side quests because they all looked like pure filler, but I finished Episode Gladius and it was solid. Going to do the final two Episodes and then move on to Wolfenstein 2. Does anyone know if Episode Ardyn is worth playing?

I liked FF XV, first half was amazing but the second half was kinda meh for me. How did you like the switch to a more linear approach after the huge open world in the first half?

Totally fine with me. I really enjoyed FF XIII and didn't mind the linearity of it as well. The road trip aspect for this one was pretty fun, but the few side quests I tried were ultra basic... like go out and kill monsters, collect tags, etc. It didn't seem like there was much of a point to going off the main quest line because the minor NPCs weren't interesting and the side quests weren't required to boost your characters for later chapters. I don't know, do you think I missed anything there? Also, the game lets you go back in time to continue the road trip in the second half, but I'm not sure if that was a feature added on later. I guess if I have a bit of a gripe with the second half it would be that it went really dark with the story. But it was still handled well and gave some feels, which is more than I can say about most games.

Finished IllWill, which I enjoyed very much.

Playing through Act III of Path of Exile II. Once I finish it, I will start another character while waiting for updates.

Tried Project Zomboid for half an hour. Weird game. Need to watch some videos to understand how to play it.

Put a few hours in DiRT Rally 2 with the new simagic equipment. Very enjoyable. Can't wait for more updates of AC Evo, as it is barebones atm.

Preloaded Khazan ...

Playing Star Wars Outlaws

It's as beautiful and it is dumb. Very.

My God is this game mid so far. Yes, awesome environments and presentation. But the writing so far is rather lame, the MC is simply unappealing. Young rebel thief persona we've all seen way too many times. No charme, no humor, but not offensively bad. Gameplay is basically Ubi open world fast food. I'm ok with that at the moment, very tired at nights when I can play.

A lot of weird little rough edges though that stick out because the presentation is so good otherwise. Animation transitions to dialogues or scripted scenes not being 100% smooth and aligned, direction in cutscenes is weird at times, same for pacing and timing in various scenes. None of the emotional scenes hit at all. The flashback to her childhood in the beginning for example wasn't effective at all.

Let's see how far I'll make it and if it gets more interesting.

One very positive aspect is the diversity, it's really great. A lot of people of color, female Stormtroopers, I love the representation of minorities here, you can see that a lot of effort and consultancy went into this crucial aspect of the game development, which is important because games are so much more than just entertainment these days. It sends a message of compassion and inclusion, the perfect fit for the Star Wars IP.

I bought a key for 22€, so it wasn't too bad. And I definitely recommend buying it to drool over the visuals and to validate your new hardware.

Download the better looking face mod though. The vanilla one is atrocious.

Well, it happened. I don't feel like playing FF7 Rebirth since reaching a new open world map. I find these parts of the game quite dull and formulaic to play through.

So I've been playing Soul Calibur 6. It's the first SC game I didn't buy at launch. And it's probably better than I thought it would be, to be fair. My favourite from the series (as a whole) is the original. Soul Edge, not Calibur.

Best intro. Best story. Best play modes.

And I've been continuing on with Raiden 3. Today I have just started to get my head around just how small the spaceship can be when you want to avoid enemy fire. I learned I have been moving my ship too much. I can just shift around a little and fit through smaller gaps in the enemies fire than I thought possible. It seems useful to know.

I've been doing a little boss rush too. In the hopes that learning how to avoid certain boss attacks, I can save some bombs for tricky parts on the later stages.

"micrododging and macrododging" is exactly what you're talking about. Your small ship can easily dodge a lot of patterns. Often making a tiny adjustment to one side is all you need to do to dodge a big pattern. Other times you really do need to dodge completely out of the way. It's fun to learn what situation calls for what type of dodging.

I only really discovered this whilst trying Boss Rush mode. I approached the level 1 boss much more open and trying to conserve the bombs.

It really will make the game much more interesting now. I've found it surprising just how much focus you do have to use for the game. But in a good way. That arcade goodness keeps it interesting.

Replayed through Lies of P to give myself a refresher before the DLC drops, it's still my favorite of the Souls clones. Good (if a bit predictable) story, somewhat basic map design but with the occasional From-tier shortcut, and really solid music. But the combat is definitely the highlight, and the fusion of elements from other games (sharpening from Monster Hunter, a stagger system inspired by Sekiro), the elemental de-buff system and parries damaging enemy weapons gives it a really distinct feel that most Soulslikes lack. Also really like the P-Organ and weapon assembly systems and the New Game+ exclusive gear, though I do hope they get expanded by the DLC since they have so much potential to give the game even more replay value. Do highly recommend if you're a patient gamer who enjoys learning enemy move sets and don't mind the occasional difficulty spike from certain bosses.
