As more fans look for new ways to make Disney a bigger part of their lives, today we are announcing plans to introduce Storyliving by Disney, vibrant new neighborhoods that are infused with our special brand of magic. Each community will feature distinctively designed spaces, unique amenities and Disney's brand of world-renowned service.

At each location, including some neighborhoods for residents ages 55+, Disney cast members trained in the company's legendary guest service will operate the community association. Through a club membership, Disney will also provide access to curated experiences, such as wellness programming; entertainment ranging from live performances to cooking classes; philanthropic endeavors; seminars and much more.

And where will the first one be? None other than a place that has known the footsteps of Walt Disney himself! Cotino, a Storyliving by Disney community, will be built in the heart of the Coachella Valley in Rancho Mirage, Calif. If you're a Disney history fan, you might know that the brilliant mountain-ringed valley in the Greater Palm Spring area was once a rejuvenating retreat for Walt and Lillian Disney!

So you want to live your life in a fucking Disney corporate infused community or what?

One step closer to Snow Crash. Bring on the Burbclaves! Mr. Lee's Greater Hong Kong here I come.
120 pages in and the book is amazing. Thanks for the recommendation.

Who is that doucher from gaffer that would be jizzing for this? Was it bad burger or sol_bad? Either way this is probably a dream come true for some cumsooomers.

Sol Bad, Manabyte and the super douche, DeafTourettres.

At least Manabyte appears to dislike woke culture as annoying as he is, but DeafTourettres is a real dipshit and some of the forum seems to come to his defense a lot.

Seems like a way to salvage dwindling profit margins for their park assets and flee up-market to richer customers.
If I'm not mistaken Walt Disney started the theme parks so that common plebs could enjoy a weekend of fun at an affordable price.

I don't see the big deal if it's some kind of virtual amusement park. What's the issue?
Disney is now getting in the real estate business.

The community will probably have an outrageous HOA/club fee so that Winnie the Pooh can bring you drinks while you mow your law. Seriously straight out of Snow Crash.

But if it has private security that prevents homeless and degenerates from showing up then I bet this place sales out instantly.

Btw here in Vegas we have a Star Wars neighborhood.

All it is is just street names named after different Star Wars characters.

Thy neighborhood has been there for a long time too. Long before even the prequels so it's just street names named after the original trilogy characters.

@CloudNull Snow Crash is terrible, how tf are you enjoying it
I love the rapid fire pace of the details and how it throws you right into everything. It doesn't hold your hand and is super dense. I also enjoy how it is very prophetic especially considering it was written 20 years ago. Also, It doesn't take itself too seriously and I love how the chapters are short.

I'm Only 150 pages in and the main story is still revealing itself. Overall thought I love the world and don't want to leave.

Oh and I love that it's a great vr novel that is not ready player one which was a decent book but only worked because of the authors nostalgia.

It's not perfect as I am a bit hesitant about how the main character talks about the 15 year old girl and seems a bit woke about his ex girlfriend counterpart. Could just be me overthinking everything is woke shit lol. I'll give my final thoughts in the reading thread after I finish.

Thanks for coming to my TED TALK.

I was ambivalent on it up until the nam-shub stuff, after which I hated it.

I can get that. While it was interesting, it was a slog to read and went on for longer than needed to establish the concept. I would also agree it dragged the other story arcs down. But for me as a total work, still thought it was a fantastic story with (at the time) pretty forward thinking ideas. And come on, a Hero/Protagonist named Hiro Protagonist?!? Pizza delivery by the Mafia!?! Pure awesome sauce.

For a second I read this as "cult membership".

I thought that stuff was contrived and gay but each to their own.

I'm wondering about so many things here.

- Will they select people who are interested by race and sexual identity to have diverse and progressive communities?
- Will they try to make an inclusive leftist utopia?
- How will they react if someone suddenly waves MAGA flags?
- Will they have an own privat corporate security force?
- Will they have a full on Disney filtered private education system for the kids?
- Will they be able to throw you out for thought crimes?
...

The more I think about it, the worse it gets.
