So I got a VR headset for the family for Christmas. Quest 2 256. Looking for some game ideas that are fun for family. I bought robo recall for myself. I was thinking beat saber and I grabbed the Spiderman swinging free game. What's pretty fun and not super violet for vr?

Is Holoball on the Quest? That game is fucking awesome. Very easy to get into with difficulty options so that even women can play (lol)

Yeah, Superhot is a good one too.

And if you have anyone who loves building LEGOs and puzzle games, one of my favorite VR games so far is Fantasic Contraption. Dunno if it's on the quest store or not

Space Pirate Trainer is a big hit with my more casual gamer family. Good exercise, fun gameplay.

I'm annoyed however that all the high scores are populated by family, oh well ;)

The shields look so fucking cool. One of the coolest looking effects I've seen in a VR game so far.

But for some reason I can't seem to get into the game too much. I really just suck at it. I never feel like I can consistently land accurate shots and I feel like I have to reach so far behind me to get it to switch between shield and gun. Maybe it's just me, maybe it's the PSVR version, I dunno. But it looks so damn cool in VR.

You really need to have room to move and be aware of your surroundings. That is one of the downfalls of the game is that it does need a decent sized play area. If you're doing well you well be sweating because you're constantly moving and making it difficult for the enemies to get a good target on you.
I suspect that none of the top 10 high scores on my headset are mine because I'm too fucking lazy to be arsed to move around a lot whereas my brother in law and his kids are moving around like they have ants in their pants when playing :D

Yeah I could see that being a thing. I have a pretty decent area dedicated to some VR space, but PSVR just doesn't really work for moving around very well. I can't wait for PSVR2. The camera for PSVR1 has this really limited cone of vision, so you have to be constantly aware of its limitations and even in a big space, your colored dildo wand will make its way out of frame or get occluded by your body, etc.

So a game has to kinda let you stand anchored in one spot while maybe lunging or leaning to sides and that's it. Especially if you're 6'2'' and can barely get your body in frame to begin with lol

I know just the one!

Seriously though, Beat saber and Superhot are solid choices which won't cause the VR bends as fast. Even steam's free aperture labs game will last the kids a solid day most likely.

I'm not buying a VR headset, after some thought. My kids are bad enough on screens anyway, the thought of walking in on them to see them regularly completely disconnected from reality so I can't see their faces gives me the heeby jeebies. And the idea of them getting Zuckerberg's hellscape beamed into their eyes on the regular is also an disturbing prospect.

Not hard to see this turning into the matrix

except with less cool HR Giger vibe and more globohomo minimalist facebook interface aesthetic. With Zuck stalking you in the background. Watching where your kids eyes look. Beaming REM brainwashing signals into your brain. Making them want to dye their hair and chop their bits off and change their pronouns.

Absolutely haram.
