Hype Thread

This is a space for those of us who are slightly above the rest of you. This is where the elites among us congregate in comfort with the most luxurious amenities to discuss how content we are and how easily we sleep now that we have secured our Nintendo Switch 2 units while the riff raff scrambles down below for any crumbs of hope.

Grab some free food from the buffet and have some free drinks from the open bar. We have about 6 weeks of relaxation on our hands, so buckle up. It'll be a long wait, but we can express our hype together while sleeping like babies knowing that we didn't fumble the ball when the clock struck midnight. We acted. And we acted quickly. The lesser beings among us had too much Doritos dust jammed in their keyboards.

What games are you most hyped for? What features? What Switch 1 upgrades are tickling your fancy? What new stuff do you wanna see? What issues are bugging you? Those of us who actually made it in to the exclusive night club can discuss these things with actual reality since we will be Switch 2 owners on June 5. The rest of the trash of our society can only discuss these things on a fantasy level because they didn't know how to put in a simple online order for a product.

On a side note, I have worked tirelessly with the admins to create restrictions for this thread. You can't post in it unless you have at least one confirmed preorder for the Switch 2. Try it! You'll get the warning message if you don't have a preorder and your post won't go through. It's very advanced code that took us 6 months to create together. I did most of the work and then the admins took all the credit because they're white men and that's what white men do. But I still wanted to create this space for those of us who are better than the rest.

Fuck yea, the other threads had a certain aroma of peasantry.

I realized that I'm sending my wife out for a wellness day away from the kids that Saturday the 7th. That was poorly planned.

I'll be unable to play while the babies are awake. Once they go to bed I'll be able to play Mario kart with my oldest for an hour or so, then I'm going to dive back into Tears of the Kingdom because I randomly remembered I never actually did anything with those wierd islands with the stones I couldn't read, so I'm going to go back and figure out what to do with those while marveling at the performance bump.

I'm debating re-buying breath of the wild and playing through that again at some point. This is where the similarities between both games become a problem. Do I replay breath of the wild even though Tears of the kingdom is an improvement over the formula?

It's a good question, and I know for me, BOTW is done. I can't go back to it after TOTK.

I'm in a similar boat too on TOTK. I played a shit ton of it, but there was still a lot left to do and knew I'd come back some day. A $10 visual upgrade for a new Switch will get me back in.

I just cannot push myself to do it. Maybe if I find out it's actually worth money from people after it launches, but it feels like such a ripoff to charge $10 for Welcome software for a new hardware launch.

Nah... I bet they at least include it as part of NSO down the road.

It's a maybe for me but I want to upgrade some switch games first. I might even pick up the new Sonic game too

Is the Mario party jamboree upgrade part of NSO like the Zelda's or would I have to come out of pocket for that?

Edit: I was just looking at the changes, and if it's not free I'm just going to play vanilla jamboree. We play with pro controllers anyway and it looks like the most meaningful changes are connected to joy con use.

I think it's only the Zelda games included with NSO

I managed to pre-order a Mario Kart bundle but I'm looking forward to DK Bananza and Metroid 4. Probably going to get Bravely Default at some point too because I never finished it on 3DS and Welcome Tour looks interesting but it does seem like the kind of thing that should really be free.

Looking towards accessories has anyone ordered a case for theirs yet? I have a tomtoc switch case which is really nice, it's padded but still slim with zips around the sides and a pouch for game cards inside. I also have a plastic tomtoc case that's form fitted for the steam deck with a latch on the front. Both are great cases but they haven't announced anything for the switch 2 yet beyond their shoulder slings/larger travel bags which isn't really what I'm looking for, I just want something slim to protect it when throwing it in a backpack.

I ordered one from Amazon a few days ago that I linked in one of the other threads. I got it because I wanted to buy it at pre tariff pricing. Other than it smelling like a Chinese factory I really like it.

I still want a Pro controller but man I really don't wanna pay so much for one. I have this 8bitdo that works just fine and should theoretically work just fine with the new Switch.

What games are you most hyped for?
At launch? Unironically Ridge Racer. Between the possible very low input lag (one guys opinion from his SF6 impressions) and the launch of the 'Arcade Archives 2' imprint and all the features and possible titles… dude if they put out an AA2 every week i'm Switch 2 I'll lose my mind (and go broke).

Overall? Metroid Prime 4 and the wheelchair basketball game. Donkey Kong is creeping up on me though, and that FROM game.

What features?
Very interested in the mouse controls. I've always been allergic to KB+M but maybe Nintendo can "crack my egg", to use the disgusting groomer lingo I just learned the other day.

What Switch 1 upgrades are tickling your fancy?

Actually kind of excited about the Zeldas, but I don't know when. They're very "desert island games" to me, and I'm just not there in my gaming life yet. Kirby too but I have a hard time justifying the price tag… the game was way too easy for the first 3/4 of it. I really liked it though. I'm hoping SMTV:V and XCX get a booster pack.

What new stuff do you wanna see?
A rail shooter, and soon. Sin and Punishment, Kid Icarus, Starfox… I don't care. One of 'em. All of em! After playing Mirage Feathers with (left hand) mouse + (right hand) arcade buttons, it just feels like such a sick way to play and with so many possibilities…. and that was just an available option not the "intended" way.

Some wild Wii era shenanigans. I want Waggle 2.0. There is just way too much cool shit going in the controls to be tacked on like gimmicks to the PS3 era game designs we've been stuck playing for decades. HD Rumble 2 + Mouse + gyro feels like it could a be MASSIVE innovation in game input, if properly explored and utilized.

What issues are bugging you?
I don't have a lot of faith we can gatekeep the rabble. #raisetheprice

I preordered one because it was the last one available lol. Not sure I'll actually bite. More excited about the Joy-Cons tbh and with the larger size and better parts I'm hoping I don't even feel the need for a pro.

I've wasted ten bucks on worse. I really want to play the shmup/dodge-em-up game on the mouse controls and start my campaign for Aka To Blue, Dodonpachi Maximum, and other mobile style shooters to get ported over. I want to believe!!!

I am still pretty early on for my Bowser's Fury playthrough, and it's one of the free upgrade patches, so I'm just gonna pause it for 6 weeks.

No shit? Game looks great on Switch too IMO and I would like any reason to get back to it…
How do you know what's all getting free upgrades?
