Ubisoft Reportedly Wants To Release A New Assassin's Creed Game Every Six Months

Assassin's Creed has been in a bit of a rough for a little while. While a lot of people felt that Assassin's Creed Mirage was a decent return to form (we didn't think so), the struggles surrounding Assassin's Creed Shadows have seen it pushed back to February next year, a month that will see it compete with other massive releases such as Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, Avowed, Civilization 7, and the juggernaut that is Monster Hunter Wilds.

Assassin's Creed is still a money-making behemoth though, and reports from reliable insider Tom Henderson that claimed Ubisoft plans on releasing ten new Assassin's Creed games before 2030 suggests that the developer knows it too. That's obviously a lot of games in very little time, but we still didn't know the frequency of these releases - that is until Henderson further elaborated on the Assassin's Creed master plan on the most recent episode of the Xbox Two + One podcast.

Assassin's Creed Will Reportedly Get A New Game Every Six Months For A Decade

In the podcast, Henderson talks a little about Ubisoft's current development pipeline for the next few years, which he describes as "strong". He lists a bunch of titles that are currently unannounced, including a new Ghost Recon game, Far Cry 7, the rumored Rayman title, an extraction shooter called Far Cry: Maverick, before then going into the many, many Assassin's Creed games in development.

They've got Assassin's Creed Shadows, they've also got Assassin's Creed Invictus next year, Assassin's Creed Hexe, Assassin's Creed: Black Flag remake, and they plan to do a new Assassin's Creed every six months or so for the next ten years, I believe.

If Ubisoft actually sticks to those plans, that means we'll be getting 20 Assassin's Creed games of varying size and scope over the next ten years, which is a completely absurd level of output that you have to wonder whether a developer that's already in a bit of trouble can pull off. Not to mention that these plans may not go ahead if Ubisoft actually decides to accept a buyout and go private, as recent rumors have suggested.

We'll have to wait and see how this bombardment of Assassin's Creed games actually manifests, or whether this reported plan is something Ubisoft sticks to at all. If it does, get ready for a lot more Assassin's Creed in the future, for better or for worse.

Execs are in blown panic mode. Throwing every idea out there to see what gains traction.

Everything except a Splinter Cell game. Michael Ironside isn't the youngest so they should really capitalise on his talent while he is still with us.

Absolute foolishness.

Ubisoft should do mainline Assassins Creed 2-3 years, with a smaller Assassins Creed in between.

Apologize to Japan and fans of Assassins Creed for the shit they did with Shadows.
Even though a fantasy/science fiction attempts should still be kept to maintain something of a general historical accuracy in line with Assassins Creed 1 and 2, maybe 3 though remove ship stealth segments for any Blackflag Remake. Stealth on land, yeah, but not in a ship.
Next two mainline Assasins Creeds should take place in Japan and Ancient Rome.
Remake Assassins Creed 1 and 2.
Assassins Creed should be taking lessons from Hitman, Ghost of Tsushima and other stealth focused franchises.
Worlds should max out at Origins in size and scale unless you are able to fill it with interesting things to do and explore.
If doing RPG elements Ala Odyssey and Valhalla make sure choices have differing and intresting results in a coherent story with begining, middle and a satisfying end.
Make sure there's lots of cool stuff to explore in the world
Lots of hidden places, temples tombs with optional endgame gadgets, weapons and gear
Stealth and combat should be like Unity
Assassin Creed Blackflag should be spun off into a improved upon fantasy Pirate series in the vein of Pirates of the Caribbean, Monkey Island, Sid Myers Pirates! And Legend of Black Kat.

Not whatever the hell Skull and Bones ended up becoming.

I think I understand this strategy.

So the goal here is to take AC: Shadows and paste in every combination of diversity they can until one of the combinations works and money rains down from above!

Do people actually still care about this series ? Ubisoft hasn't made anything worth buying for a while now

Did they learn nothing the last time they completely saturated the market with AC games?

This is why things such as Guitar Hero and Rock Band died. Look at how piss poor the reception to stuff like EAFC and the 2K Sports is, I know they sell well but the playerbases are always complaining. Too much too soon is something the market is decidedly against.

Give the teams a couple of years, at least, to try and make something better each time. Less is very much more!

This isn't for the customers, this is a desperate move to placate shareholders and tempt investors, who will just hear 'more of successful product, more often!', without understanding anything about why the product has been successful previously or how the market reacts to such approaches.

Ubisoft are fucking desperate for money, basically.

Of course. They see that message dei games are failing so the only hope to spread the.propaganda is to bombard the market. You will accept wokeness because it will be shoved in your console every 6 months

Unity was the last AC game in my book.

Ubi just wants to sprint to either bankruptcy or an acquisition at bargain basement prices it seems.
