Thread: Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered - Announce Trailer (Feb 14th - PS5/PS4/Xbox/PC/Switch)
Oh shit! TR4 is my fav TR game and one of my favorite games of all time.

TR used to be one of my favorite franchises until they Uncharted it up. I never played TR6 back in the day since I didn't game much in college. I've tried to go back to it but it doesn't hold up at all and from what I read was shitty at release anyways. Excited to give it another shot if they can fix the wonky controls. It's the only TR game I haven't finished.

There was a 4, 5 and 6? I checked out after 3 until the first remake Anniversary. Then checked back out.

So these might be worth checking out when there is a Steam sale down the road.

Oh god damn yes I am there day one with bells on then double dipping for a physical switch release.

I absolutely love these games and hopefully they'll have fixed Angel of Darkness, which I was never able to complete at the time, as my version was so broken there was no collision detection on the ledges of one puzzle, completely preventing any further progress.

Good news, but I thought the team that did the first three are working on the Soul Reaver collection?

That's probably nearly done and these are likely pretty easy to knock out once they got the first one completed.

I mean there's probably more people working in the ports than on they original games themselves, and those came out once a year or so.

People were pretty chuffed about the first three because originals are often where the fandom orbits, but based on some replies ITT 4-6 where it really peaked.

I will pick up 1-3 eventually, I just don't need them yet. I never played more than a demo of the original, but these days some classic gameplay is exactly what I'm after in a game.

I've only played number 1 of the original trilogy so I've got some way to go. It's currently on sale on Steam FYI.

1 is a stone cold classic, 2's the peak in most ways, improving on everything in 1, 3 is the difficult 3rd album of the series, still great but at times a bit stale and lacking as clear a vision, 4 and 5 got experimental and took the PS1 games to new heights, but were less coherent as singular games than 2, AOD was insanely ambitious and was meant to be the start of a new trilogy, and is arguably the best in many regards, but ultimately was unfinished and released broken. If they've actually fixed it for this release, it could be amazing.

Not a single one of them would be less than an 8/10 though. These games created a franchise still going strong nearly 30 years later for a reason.

While 4 is my favorite, I think the 1-3 trilogy is much better as a package. 4 was peak TR to me. I liked the single setting, interconnected levels and hard difficulty. A lot of people preferred the earlier games though. 5 wasn't that great compared to the prior games and 6 was broken. My ranking would be 4>1>2>3>5>6

4 and 1 would be very close for me.
