Thirsty Suitors is a stylish, story-driven RPG about a young woman named Jala who returns to her hometown for her sister's wedding and must face all the mistakes and expectations she abandoned when she left, all while her grandmother sends suitors after her in hopes of making a match. Jala must balance the weight of societal, cultural, and familial expectations while making up for her past mistakes, all while skateboarding around town, taking on cooking challenges, and dealing with the suitors that arrive to win her heart.

So this is a game for lonely 30-something women who wish they could have been, in their younger days, cool bisexual skateboarding chicks who get laid loads and are so quirky and just soooooo misunderstood? LOL.

I love how the female power fantasy is basically "I wish I wasn't a fat, frigid, psychological mess but was actually a cool skatergirl who gets laid instead".

Sorry, I am totally stuck on the skateboard thing. It's like if someone who is painfully not cool tried to come up with a "cool" character for a videogame.

"Disappoint Your Parents."

OMG. My parents like, totally, don't get me! I'm so quirky y'all!

Bitch, please. You're a 30 plus, pudgy, rainbow haired, cat lady who hasn't been fucked since college and thinks Twitter is the appropriate place for political debate and TikTok is a place to impart your half-baked life lessons to teenagers. There's nothing to "not get".

"Fight Your Exes"

LOL. Fuck.
That grim moment where you realise that pretending to fight dragons and wizards and shit has been replaced by pretending that you have exes.

The real fantasy here, is that one of these past guys, that she let pump her and dump her, wold have any interest in her now, let alone any new decent guys she'd meet after riding the cock carrousel for over a decade.

Purple hair and a nosering? Wow, so #currentyearbigirl

And god I hate that accent the mom has where C's are pronounced with G's and T's with D's. It reminds me of Crackdown 3 where the voice actor kept yelling at you to "dake out dose durrets" and "incoming gilling matcheens."

It's got some tough competition...

Why do designers think anyone (who's part of a sizeable audience) wants to play this? Games aren't like books or movies and will probably never be in that even the "art house"/ political shit still has to appeal to gamers on a basic level with good mechanics, aesthetics, story or desIgn. I watched the trailer and this seems to be batting 0/4.

They want to cram their ideology into every entertainment medium. The fun factor isn't the priority here. They have a message to communicate.

Actually while the audience is small, I will just say that a targetted audience is a GOOD thing. Consider we all moan about the current state of AAA games trying to target everyone (and thus no-one) - the rest of gaming should take note and follow suit recognising that not every game is for everyone. This game isn't for us, and maybe some other games aren't for blue-haired twitter checkmarks and that's ok.

Frankly an Indian girl dating just one white guy would be disowned by her family. And yet it's white people who are racist...
Thats just them punching up!

Don't look at the fact that Asians (including Indians) live much better than whites on average in the US. Just know that whites are at the top of the evil hierarchy and start lashing yourself.

While I do agree with @HariSeldon's point about games targeted to specific audiences being a good thing I do wonder about the existence of games like this.

Who is the audience for this and do they even have access to the platform on which the game is available?

It isn't like a movie or book where the entry price is low. Anyone can go to a movie theater and watch whatever they like the look of or go to a book shop and just pick up whatever woke nonsense they want to read.

Something like this comes with a 500 buck start up cost since you need to own the actual console. It's not like buying a TV to watch shows as you'll likely be watching a lot of TV. Who is picking up this game and then playing that much from the PS5 library?

Games like this seem to just exist to pad out the library of games available on PS Plus and to meet some quotas so that the developer can get more investment money to make more straight to subscription content.

I am genuinely wondering if the kind of person who would be into this kind of story in a game would even own a PlayStation to begin with?

So female Scott Pilgrim, but with a twist (you're fighting your Exes) and Indian spice essentially?

^ said this way back when and it's still true today. I honestly thought this had already launched and died a death and disappeared so I was a bit surprised to see it in the Annapurna Showcase yesterday. Honestly premise aside, not a lot to like about this game, gnarly-looking characters especially.
