Megadrive and SNES (plus Neo Geo) gen for me.
It was the gen where action games, especially fighting games finally worked for me. Before, on the NES, C64 and the Amiga most of those weren't really good.

When 3D took over, it took me until the PS3 to embrace it. PS1/N64 was horrible looking, and PS2 barely better. Got headaches all the time trying to play those games.

It was a close call between sixth gen and seventh gen for me, though I voted sixth gen because early seventh gen was great but later seventh gen was where microtransactions and other bullshit in modern gaming got their start. They're relatively benign by today's fucked up standards, but they got their start there.
The fact that we got people defending that practice is absurd lol.

I like now because we are able to also play the past games. all era's they all have classics.l or high lights. It's really hard

But for me the 16/32 bit era was a massive jump in quality in 2D but until the game cube or dreamcast era I never felt home consoles were on par with arcades. That was an amazing time.

Those eras and 8 bit are my nostalgia sweet spots

But with how far we have come it's nice we are able to look back and experience the older consoles and games. Either via original hardware or on the new consoles via compilations etc.

After umming and arring, I'm having to go 5th gen/N64+PS1.

Games were more refined in 6th gen, but the huge explosion of creativity true 3D brought means there's simply more games I enjoyed and go back to regularly from 5th gen.

Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, Final Fantasies, Spyro, Zelda, Rare games, MGS, Medieval, G Police, Colony Wars, Wipeout, not to mention PC games in this era, are all amazing games, and despite their janky controls and dodgy graphics, are still more fun than 99% of games released today.

6th gen is a close second though. I still have my modded PS2 hooked up, with a fancy HDMI upscaling adapter and wireless controllers infact, although I play as many if not more PS1 games on it quite frankly.

Lol ok who voted PS5/Xbox Series?

It wasn't me, but honestly, I don't think praising modern games as being the best is all that absurd

While 6th gen may be what I romanticize most, I'd be lying if I said that my PS2 and Original Xbox weren't gathering dust in favor of my PC, Series X, Switch, and PS5
