Well to be fair in Justice League Flashpoint - when the reverse flash fucked with the timeline, it was Bruce's dad who becomes batman and Bruce died in the ally. So they may have taken the concept from that.

Possibly, they saw how well a live action version of super hero time travel workout and made them less risk adverse and since Barry tapping into the Speedforce to fix things has always been this MacGuffin in the animated films, they thought it would translate well into the live action version
But I think it mostly has to do with the animated films since those have always done wel.

I like the flash but his list of memorable arcs can be counted on one hand.

As much as I'd love to shit on Ezra Miller and DC movies in general... this looks insane. Could be fun. Supergirl, Keatonman, Zod... I'm interested.
Well if Zod is back it's good way to introduce her, since in some comics she was stuck in the phantom zone (same place as Zod's prison).
One thing I'll give the mentally ill kid is he seems like a decent actor. He's playing a version of himself from a universe where he's had a normal life (for a super powered kid) and a version of himself where he's emotionally destroyed and each version is very visually distinct and convincing.

This is completely untrue. Flash has some great villains with some cool stories.
People just don't know this because Flash isn't as popular as the big heroes. Flashpoint is in fact the WORST Flash event according to many of his fans.

I wonder how long this was the actual writing to the movie and not a reaction from the success of the most recent Spider Man. With all the weird antics the main actor had been doing in the past few years I didn't think this project would make it to the finish line and I'm pretty sure he's cut loose shortly after.
