You never answered this question:

Can you name one area where society cares about anything that affects men?

If you want to have a discussion about men's rghts etc there's an entire board set aside for those sorts of subjects where you are free to fire one up. Lets keep this Gaming thread focussed on this shitty review and whether it signals a repeat of something that's come before in gaming please.

I'm gonna drop this here. I'm curious to see what y'all think of it. I posted it on GAF, and was immediately dismissed by Evilore, which I found rather strange, but whatever.

One of the members there said this:
We are being punk'd guys.
This is all a grift.
They keep making a stink about it so we will keep talking about it.
So people keep hearing about it and get curious to buy the game.

No way this is real life.

To which I replied:

I've actually been thinking about that the last couple of days, and just now did a quick search.

And this is interesting...

Wired is owned by Condé Nast.
Condé Nast is owned by Advance Publications.

Meanwhile...

Warner Bros is owned by Warner Bros. Discovery
Guess who is one of the 3 listed owners of Warner Bros. Discovery...

Advance Publications.

Now this in itself proves nothing, but it certainly asks, at the bare minimum: Why would the owner of a publication allow that publication to publicly denounce one of its own products?

It's a good time to be reminded that almost all media in the western world funnels up to about 6 owning entities. If they want to play us, they most certainly can.

The outrage over Hogwarts has made it way more popular than it would've been otherwise. Bad publicity (and in this case its not even really bad unless you're a raging troon) is good publicity, etc.

The loons definitely had the Streisand Effect on the game, which is a beautiful irony, but I do wonder how well it would have done without it. After all, it's a beloved IP with mainstream appeal that reviewed well. What percentage could the controversy realistically account for? It will be very hard to tell, and we'll never get an actual number

The irony is that Hogwarts Legacy actually is such a woke game. Had resetera and co. shut up, then they could have claimed "victory" afterwards, saying "ha, see, that game you hype so much, it has a trans character, its entire writing is adapted to trans-likings, it has gay couples, and a major npc comes from Uganda which is often the topic! You got woked!".

But no, they condemned the game on the dumbest of bases and now they're the loser. Hilarious.

No they couldn't. Because in their deranged minds what JK Rowling wrote in defense of REAL women vs troons is something tantamount to Mein Kampf. The fact that such a gentle rebuke by her to their derangement is nowadays tantamount to hate speech shows you how deep the delusion is. So anything related to her has to be torn down lest she spread her supposed troonphobic beliefs to others.

Shite, just 3 years ago we had Alita Battle Angel, a film by all standards would be considered woke. It had a badass female protagonist, played by an actress of Hispanic descent, set in a multicultural future scifi setting and based on a comic by a Japanese creator. Yet for some weird reason the SJWs hated, mainly because it was compared to the woke approved Captain Marvel which many people thought was one of the worst entries in the MCU.

These SJW idiots will hate on anything, even media that may be favorable to them.

Japanese aren't scared to design sexy female characters, so they're evil, yes.
They will eventually. Thats becoming overbearing and annoying. They never do anything original they just put that stuff in to fill in airtime and you could omit that from the anime and it'd be better without it.

I largely think most print media and old guard outlets such as IGN and Gamespot have declined due to the rising popularity of streamers and YouTubers. I don't foresee a "Gamergate 2.0" as most people are free to find channels or streams that largely align with their tastes, or can see unlimited amounts of gameplay and decide for themselves. Publications like Wired will only find themselves ridiculed and drifting further into irrelevance if they keep hiring clowns that are completely unprofessional. I can't for one second imagine anyone taking that Wired review even close to seriously, not unless you're some trans activist giving out backpats on twitter.

I do think we're more exposed to the outlandish and "hot" takes more often as we are very immersed within gaming and the "culture" of gaming. But I largely think that most of the unprofessional activists are just screaming into an echo chamber and we're sat laughing on the outside. The only way these people will stop is when we stop giving them air, or being bothered by their shit takes.
