From Skydance, Production I.G, Masashi Kudō and Mattson Tomlin comes one of the most anticipated anime series of the year, TERMINATOR ZERO.Starring Timothy Olyphant, Rosario Dawson, Sonoya Mizuno, André Holland & Ann Dowd - TERMINATOR ZERO premieres on August 29th (Judgement Day) only on Netflix.

It looks cool, but apparently it will treat all prior films as canon which is confusing. Female soldier Eiko sent back in time to 1997 Japan to protect Cortex Industries scientist Malcolm Lee who works to launch AI system Kokoro designed to compete with Skynet.

Sounds cool as hell, and the trailer looks good too.

The disappointment is real, the second I realized this was a cartoon.

If you haven't already check out The Terminator Chronicles, best content in the franchise since Terminator 1 & 2 IMO.
I watched Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles when it aired and was disappointed it got canceled. Really rushed, cliffhanger ending.

So what if Zero is an anime? You expect the franchise not to branch out from live-action, given Salvation, Genisys, and Dark Fate all failed?

It's just I was semi excited for a new Terminator film and then when I saw it was animated I realised it wasn't for me, nothing more.

I tried to watch What If episode 1 three times and just got distracted each time. I did enjoy the first episode of Invincible though so maybe the project might not be completely lost on me.

I hope this is great, I love manga and anime. That Cyberpunk Edgerunners anime turned out great so there's that

Still salty about The Sarah Connor Chronicles though..

Terminators have really sucked for awhile. Just never been able to catch the same magic since T2. It's on netflix so I'll give it a watch.

Animation can be cool and there are some good animated series. Invincible, Arcane and Blue Eye Samurai are all well worth watching. Live action is cool but the issue is usually cost esp when it comes to environments and cast etc. The advantage animation has is it can usually do grandiose in scale and scope very well. The main downside is it can take longer to realise.

Saw the first 3 episodes, promising but not perfect.

The action scenes are a little jarring and some suspension of disbelief you'll have to have here, but the mystery and story is very intriguing so far. I'll keep watching.

Finished it.

I think this show does very interesting things in regards to the Terminator "timeline(s)", it has a lot of fresh ideas and new concepts that I don't think have been present before in the movies. After all the bad movies after T2, this is a breath of fresh air. The terminator in this show was badass and his presense in some scenes turns the show into borderline horror at times. Not all characters are written equally, and I thought around the middle of the season things got a little weaker and uninteresting, but towards the end it quickly picked up again and ended on a very strong conclusion, that I'm interested to see what happens next.

Finally, the show just reminded of just how sick of a concept the Terminator franchise is, it's like the coolest setup there is, and that's before even getting to go back in time to change the future. The movies after T2 really weighs all of this down with how shit they were (except for Rise of the Machine, I quite like that one, not great or anywhere near T2، but it's still a good time imo)

If season 2 was to happen, I'd hope for a little tighter writing, but the foundation here is very, very good. Terminator is exciting again.a
