The sad thing is, the world (and the games industry) has gone to shit over the last five years to such an extent that this is actually believable.

Funny you mentioned RDR. I think the second game is a brilliant and subtle satire of SJWs, particularly with the character of Dutch Van der Linde.

Dutch fancies himself a man of culture and enlightened thinking. He champions the work and social causes of writer Evelyn Miller and his diverse views on race are reflected by the composition of his gang. We have two black people (Lenny and Tilly), a Mexican (Javier Escuella) and even an Irishman (Sean) who were pretty much hated at that point in history. Dutch also fancies himself a feminist with how he and Arthur saved Sadie Adler in the beginning and tells his gang to treat the female members with respect.

But as the game goes on you begin to see that much of Dutch's image of a enlightened leader is really just a facade. He really doesn't care about fighting for the little guy oppressed by society and just uses it as an excuse for his criminal ways. His claims of not being a racist ring false when we're shown he has a pretty low opinion of white Southeners and even the Italian mobster Angelo Bronte. There's also his manipulation of the Wapiti Indians in his misguided war against Leviticus Cornwall. And no one can claim him a feminist with the horrible way he treats his girlfriend, Molly O'Shea. In the end, Dutch is really just a thug who fancies himself an intellectual and visionary.

I don't know if Dan Houser and his writing team intentionally set out to mock the typical SJW with the portrayal of one of their main characters. But it's pretty brilliant nonetheless.

Dear god, I didn't bother watching E3 this year live, but I heard stories about how bad Take Two was. Just saw it. Whew boy.

I didn't expect we'd rapidly go from "no gameplay" to "no games" for E3, but we did.

Do these fuckers not realize that this does the opposite of sell games? Who are the asshole marketing consultants going around telling everybody "muh duhversity = sales". Someone's lying to them.

Yeah, they basically held 100K gamers hostage on Twitch on the vague hope that this was all a bad dream and that it would end and they would in fact have some games to announce/showcase. I suspect like me most ppl turned the sound down and just had it on the second screen whilst doing something else (in my case posting up Threads here) with one eye on it it in the vague hope that it would wrap up sooner rather than laters. I could understand announcing something like this for GDC, but E3? Honestly 2K were out of their gourd on this one.

It sucks, because this is one of those topics where, the moment someone suggested the idea, everyone had to get on board with it or risk being branded as a racist/sexist bigot.

Day 1
Person1: "We should skip showing games at one of the biggest games shows of the year and instead do a hiring diversity panel. Thoughts?"
Person 2: "What? That seems like a terrible idea!"
Person 1: "..."

Day 2
Announcement: "Person 2 has decided to step down from their position with the company, effective immediately. Also, we will be doing a hiring diversity panel at E3 instead of showing games."

I gotta be honest, I love my PS5 and I haven't played a single next-gen exclusive on it. PC gaming had spoiled me so when my PC fell behind and I didn't have the cash to upgrade/buy a new one PS5 was a cheaper option (though not by as much as I'd like) and a good example would be what I'm playing now... Borderlands 3... I watch other people's youtube vids for stuff I'm stuck on and they're playing on base ps4s, ps4 pros and xbox one's/x's and it looks SO SHITTY compared to what i'm playing, the framerate in particular looks OBNOXIOUSLY bad. It's weird how big a difference a sharper, cleaner image and 60 fps makes but it DOES.

I legitimately can survive with just the abundance of old games I have in my library for the rest of my life (doubly so as emulation becomes more of a thing and I'm able to play old console exclusives too), so let the industry crash and burn for all I care. We need new blood.

I would very much welcome a second video game crash, at least in the west. Tear it all down and start from scratch later and/or just leave it all up to the Japanese like the old console days. No woke bs.

It's completely normal to want diversity, who doesn't? But when it's being handled poorly, forced, etc. It's hard not to feel like it's just pandering and searching for brownie points. It's absurd. It all just feels so fucking forced.

I don't know who thought it'd be a great idea to do such a thing during E3, especially. I mean, they even put it on their schedule! Wtf were they thinking?!
