Thread: Switch worldwide sales top 139.36 million, Super Mario Bros. Wonder tops 11.96 million
If Switch 2 launching this year I don't see it passing PS2. Only ways is if Nintendo manufacture more and continue to sell for 2 more years along with Switch 2.

But I don't recall Nintendo kept manufacturing previous gen(especially for more than a year) as new Gen begins.

It depends on what you're looking at.

Remember Switch is a hybrid, so bear their handhelds in mind too, and usually the older system hangs around for a while after the replacement hits, often getting a slew of final bangers and a Pokémon before they turn the lights off.

I mean there's still n2DS XL's getting sold even now in Japan. Barely any mind you, but I would be shocked if we didn't see Switch 1 still on sale into 2026 quite honestly.

Edit: If MS is exiting hardware, Foxcon may have lines open to manufacture more Switch and Switch 2! 😂

All it means is they just have to produce 20 million more Nintendo Switch consoles. They've adjusted their expected sales for the year 2024 and are expecting to sell 15 million units. They may even have already produced enough Switch consoles to accomplish this. Once Switch 2 launches, existing Switch stock will come down in price and easily clear inventory. I really don't see any way that Nintendo Switch won't clear 159 million units sold.

Oh and the successor to Nintendo Switch is launching in 2024.

I think they can rebrand the switch in 2026 to a handheld only drop price to 99$ and squeeze out another few million sales. Especially if they keep Pokemon games on it.
If NSO can keep getting games. Pokemon. Some ports and AA games with indies and 99$ it can sell. Not to mention getting it into China and India.

I booted up my Switch for the first time in a long time to see how bad AC:NH had me during lockdown and you're right. 455 hours played.

Stay away from it. It's a filthy, bad, no good habit.
They're great games but man are they addicting. So many great times playing the original. AC is the type of game that you can't help but enjoy. Too bad the latest one was inspired by Jeffrey Epstein 🙀

I'm really curious how Nintendo will follow up the Switch. After the WiiU, there was a serious appetite for a great Nintendo console, and Nintendo delivered.

Part of me worries that there isn't as much demand for one now as there was back then. Sure, many core gamers want one, but I have a suspicion that it will be hard for Nintendo to move casual players off the Switch to a newer device.

They won't re-invent the wheel….i think it will simply be a beefed up switch 1 with more online functionality built it
