Switch ain't gonna stop any time soon. If Nintendo is smart, they'll be able to surpass the DS by selling the system for a few more years, then go the PS2 route of offering it cheap after Nintendo moves on to their next system.

also noteworthy that RingFit Adventure is the only new IP in the top 10 in a sea of Marios and Zeldas. Amazing game, not even kidding. When will we get a SEQUEL?!?

Nintendo has reported a slowdown in Nintendo Switch console sales, and a slight reduction in its annual sales forecast.

Overall, Nintendo Switch has now sold 114.3m consoles worldwide, with another 6.68m sold over the last two quarters. 2.23m of these were of the original 2017 Switch, while Switch OLED sold 3.53m and Switch Lite sold 920k.

However, Nintendo admitted it had sold 19.2 percent fewer consoles year-on-year over the financial year so far - in part, it said, due to the ongoing semiconductor shortage. In response, Nintendo has cut its Switch sales forecast for the year from 21m to 19m consoles.

"While there is a gradual improvement in semiconductor and other component supplies and a recovery trend in hardware manufacturing for Nintendo Switch, taking into consideration production and sales performances thus far, we have modified the Nintendo Switch hardware sales units forecast for the fiscal year," Nintendo wrote.

Switch is now just 4m sales behind Game Boy, which sold 118m. Wii ended its life on 101m. Nintendo's top-selling handheld family, the DS, ended up on 154m.

48M copies of a Wii U game

It's insane how they were able to take games that didn't sell on their failed platform and sell them again on the Switch for full price and put up numbers that no one else can hit with high budget modern games.

Animal Crossing is the biggest surprise to me. I think it hit at the right time with the pandemic. But there is nothing about that game that looks interesting.

I am surprised Mario Kart isn't more. Does that include all the consoles that have it as a pack in?

I think it's 'cause the modern gaming audience -- not just "gamers" but the whole mass of customers -- value a game that offers lots of content moreso than just newest graphics and new storylines. MK8D is the biggest Mario Kart money can buy. Other games on that list are sold on the quantity and quality of content not much more (smash Bros and AC, for instance). Some of the highest-selling third party games on the Switch are Diablo 3 Complete and Minecraft, two other previous-gen ports crammed with content. The eShop is full of Complete Editions of last-gen gems.

Yeah, let's keep riding the Switch OG hardware for a few more years.

It's already slowing down and PS5 is starting to outsell it. Nintendo should launch Switch 2 next March.

no, we're headed into a pinched economy. Nintendo doesn't tend to release new hardware if they can help it; they're very timid.

Anyone launching new hardware in the next 2 years is gonna have a tough uphill battle. I'm including PSVR2 in this equation.

Unless the economy totally tanks, it'll be fine. People have no problem buying $500 consoles now.

PSVR2's failure will come from it's cost in addition to lack of demand.

I was being sarcastic. Nintendo is dead, dude. There's zero hype for them. They have Tears for Fears coming out next year, and that's it. Notta. Nothing. No new potential. Games released today are gimped or run like shit. I'm still wishing I could play XC2 in non-smeared state. They will run the risk of being DOA by the time they get around to announcing new hardware.

I'm probably one of the most ardent Nintendo fans and I'm just sick of the fucking bullshit with them. They could have should have offered a $500 Switch Pro or something so I could fully enjoy the Nintendo goodness.

EDIT: Sorry, I tried to tone it down DonDon.

Nintendo is doing the Wii thing again where they too slow to follow with a successor, probably looking for another gimmick instead of making Switch 2. They'll come up with some Switch U shit that nobody will buy.
