Why the fuck is no one talking about the new episode yet? What's wrong with you fuckers?

Well it's pretty much what I was expecting in terms of where things would go, though I have no doubt that it's about to have some very wild twists and turns.

It's Monday dude. Plus also Podcasts and reviews to catch up on as well.

However, with that said I thought it was a good follow-up with everyone circling the day after.

A lot to take on board Shiv's pregnancy being an added wrinkle esp given we assume it's Tom's, but honestly, she could have been fucking Stewie for all anyone knows given the time gap between Tuscany and current events. I think that alone may in some way have contributed to her rolling over for Ken and Roman when it came to vying for the COO role, though she clearly wasn't happy about the result. I did like the fact that when she talked with Tom she laid out what everyone had said that their fucking about may have killed him as he'd never have been on that plane if they hadn't opposed him. However, despite having been given the nod, Ken looks like he is going to fuck things up royally by going with the smear campaign, even though Roman was opposed.

Kind of fascinated as to how things go with the gojo deal, esp with Mattsen's aide apparently playing hardball demanding they come to the Gojo company retreat within 24 hours, versus cutting them some slack. Also they don't offer any condolences or anything on the call, just 'bad one'

I say underlined. The beginning of the line indicates the intention, as most people would initially place a pen accurately, but then potentially stray as the line is made.

I'm on team Crossed Out. I think the old man just missed the mark at the beginning and re-routed it right away to cross out the majority. I think if it was meant to be underlined, the majority wouldn't be through the name.

And I think Kendall knows it, too. I also love that there will never be a definitive answer to this question lol

It's not what we think though, it's what Kendall thinks and let's face it Ken loves to self-sabotage because inherently he doesn't feel worthy when it comes down to it.

Based on that preview, it looks like the New Gen Roys are going to 'Find a stranger in the Alps' when they meet with Mattsen. Can't wait.

I have listened to a few podcasts and watched some youtube and one person did posit something very notable.

Connor may be polling at 1% in the candidate race, however, his dad's death and the sympathy vote might boost his numbers enough that it could impact matters, which obviously wouldn't please Mencken and of course, the plan was to back Mencken. I could see either Kendall or maybe Roman looking to leverage the hidden truth behind Willa's background to force Connor to drop out, but that could well blow up in their faces in some fashion. I would hope it wouldn't come down to that level of outright ugliness (Connor is an idiot, but he's not a complete asshole). Still, I wouldn't be surprised and the fact that Willa was basically outlined as an escort way back in the first episode of Season 1 surely isn't an afterthought. I'm hoping the theory is wrong, but you never know and if it does turn out to be the case, what's the outcome going to be?

I understand your point, but the line only really starts going through the name proper in the last third, that's plenty of time for clumsy deviation from original intent. If there's one person with crap judgement on this show it's Kendall, his insecurities and neurosis inform his choices to a greater extent than the others. I think this is another one, but as you say, we'll never know!

That's what I love so much about this. I could sit here and argue that the line starts going through the bottoms of the letters much earlier, and you could argue that that makes it closer to being an underline than a cross-out, and then I could say no it's going through the letters, therefore...

The thought process behind creating that type of an argument for the viewers is just pure genius. And it plays either way. Kendall is a self-obsessed asshole who would see it as a cross-out (when it's an underline) and run the company into the ground over pure bullshit ego. Or, he is correct that it was crossed out and it has helped him come to grips with how much of his father's tenacity is within him and will go to run the company with that same mindset. We're "right" either way. It's so good. All that from a fucking penciled line on a document that could have accidentally been dropped in a toilet lol

I think it was him crossed out, because I don't see why someone would underline a document like that. But it's meant to be vague and like @Kadayi said really it's about what Kendall thinks about it that matters. He finally gets what he's always wanted (at least on a temporary basis) and he can't help but dwell on the picture he took of the sheet. Initially on seeing he had the picture I figured he kept it as proof to himself that his dad believed in him all along, but at the end it's like he changes his mind, decides that he was crossed out and goes scorched earth on his Dad's legacy. Even in death Logan is fucking with Kendall's head.

I was listening to some youtube analysis today and someone brought up something very interesting

Apparently, if you watch the scene with Frank & Karl talking about the Logan note with the subtitles, it's not little princes they say, it's little Princess, which would imply Logan named Shiv as the successor. Dude has a bit of speculation going on that maybe Frank, Karl & Jerri bury this and that the note they show to Kendall etc isn't the latest one. Could be a case of bad subtitles (I haven't checked as busy working on the Jedi Survivor OT atm), but adds an interesting wrinkle if there is any truth to it.

The stupid tribute band fucked it all up!

TBH the boys got played. Kendall didn't want to sell, Roman didn't want to deviate from Dad's plan. The only one who came out tops was Shiv. I bet Mattson jacked to that photo of the boys trying to look happy on the jet (Probably with an IV in his arm).

I was left wondering if maybe he's even playing Shiv a little bit as well. He can see these personal dynamics so easily and could tell Shiv felt left out and like her "strengths" weren't being utilized, so he can wrap her around his finger and get inside info. I guess we'll see how he uses her as things unfold.

That per share price he ended up offering for the whole package that all the suits were cheering about is probably even under what he was willing to spend. The kids just can't compete with self-made empire creators and I think their dad knew that. Man, this show is too good haha

From the stuff between them in season 3 I felt like Logan saw more of himself in Mattson than in any of his kids. Logan viewed himself as a working-class guy who built something huge and, as with many real-life billionaires, that led to a disconnect between him and his kids who grew up with a completely different experience.

I think this all goes back to Logan's thing about the price of milk. His kids for better or worst have never known want and so unlike him, they don't have a proper grasp of the value of things, which in some ways ties a lot in with his denouncement of them in the Karaoke Bar because they don't perceive that the Mattson deal was a good deal for everyone. Whereas he's a man who has made deals his whole life. In many ways, you could almost look at the Pierces as what would likely happen to them. Generational money ultimately goes to seed and is largely divorced from the business's day-to-day. Nan Pierce is many things, but given how within a season or so the valuation of their failing media empire dropped from around 25 billion to 10 billion (likely a result of firing her best CEO), it's clear that she lacks much in the way of any real business acumen herself. There are probably parallels to be drawn between the Pierces and The New York Times which has much of its credibility has deteriorated over the years as a result of A. G. Sulzberger the 5th generation Ochs-Sulzberger heading up the company basically giving up on any pretence of integrity versus fuelling clickbait. Tanking its reputation in the process.

No one believes in Ken, but he nailed it. Hopefully Roman can actually see that his sister played him. He definitely knew he fucked up.

The co-pilot aspect was so fantastic for the way the situation was written. The show has like an avalanche of metaphors going on at any time lol

That was a brutal scene between Tom and Shiv on the balcony. I wonder what happened with Nate's opinion of Ken's offer between the moment in the hallway and later on.

I don't really watch or listen to outside discussions on the show but one day I'll have to delve deeper into some of the business aspects. It seems a bit odd how they are able to make a giant offer they barely have the capital for to acquire Pierce, then just be like oh hey let's just buy GoJo too instead of them swallowing us up. Because I guess we're printing money up on the top floor here lol

Yeh Tom and Shiv's relationship has always been a mess but that felt particularly brutal. At the start of the episode I was thinking that we haven't had a follow-up on Shiv being pregnant yet and then Tom made those comments at the end.

Would they still be going for Pierce if the sale is no longer going through?

Damn, that Balcony Scene was a tough hang. The worst part is Tom doesn't know how badly he fucked himself with those comments. I hope Shiv doesn't do anything drastic. Also, Mattsen just being off on one, although I do wonder if a lot of this stuff is a play and Kenro are just gobbling it up on the way to the slaughterhouse. 🤔

At the end of the balcony scene I was wondering if they were going to turn around to find everyone inside staring out at them. I'd say that feels like it's finally it for those two, but you never know with them.

I was talking with a friend who was wondering if that hint of inflated numbers might be a ploy by Matsson. But I don't think so. Before that Kendall and Roman might not have wanted the deal to go through but they didn't really have a leg to stand on because the deal is so good. So would you really want to give them any kind of ammunition, even if it's fake? I wouldn't think you'd want to plant the seed in people's heads that your numbers and metrics are bullshit, even if you know they aren't.

Republicans = evil and bad and they rain hellfire down upon the world when they're elected

Ken seemed really weak in this one. I didn't really like that. Last week he was all-in, but this week he was a little pansy worried about the future of the country if the "evil Republican" won the stupid presidency. Last week he would have let a bus full of nuns run off a cliff if it meant raising the stock price.

And of course he hates that he needs Roman all of a sudden. Ken just doesn't have it all. It's like all 3 kids have certain pieces of their dad, but can just barely function together so they can't match Dad while working together and can't even come close when trying to run it solo.

It was a good episode, if just a tad overly long. I really hope Shiv's little plan gets fucked with. I'm suddenly Team Ken

I could see them doing a time jump. But my guess is it just sorta wraps up in a "draw your own interpretation of how things play out" type of ending. And then 3 years from now they announce a movie for some streaming service. And Brian cox does force ghost memory scenes or some shit.

Nope, the ending was very clear-cut. I'm glad about that. Didn't see it going that direction, either.

It was kind of a huge departure for this show to go with Logan's brain being frozen and implanted into a cyborg body to take over in the end, but at least they gave us something we couldn't have predicted.
