I pre-ordered it since I've finished Elden Ring for the time being. I expect it will be a solid 6-7 in reviews. My personal score for this kind of game will be far higher. To each their own, and I'm still left wondering if some of these reviewers have ever played a Koei game before to really get the offbeat humour and pacing for which they're renowned.

Doesn't sound as if they've fixed performance at all, either, which is disappointing. Not sure how a cross-gen title coming out 2 years into the cycle can run as poorly as it does.

*Surprised Pikachu* Y-you mean to tell me journos who pre-judged the game since it's official announcement as starring and i quote a "Normie Fuckboy" who remindes them of their "sister's first scumbag boyfriend after she left for college" were going to give this game a fair score?

I've already preloaded the game and it's going to unlock in about 5 hours and I can't wait, I've already said i the previous thread that I've enjoyed my 5 hours with the demo than my 30 hours with Elden Ring, I've even started playing FF1 on my PSP in anticipation, if you liked Nioh 1&2 you'll like this end of story, it has the same pros and cons as those games (ie great and deep gameplay with some nice tunes, but shallow/short level based design and ok to forgettable story) so you should be familiar with what your getting yourself into.

From what I've seen, it looks as if it could be a C-tier game from the PS2 era (with better graphics, of course).
The combat engine seems to be the best thing about it.
You must've not played a C-Tier PS2 game then if that's what you think this game is with just a better coat of paint.

Go look at any Cavia game on the PS2 (Beatdiwn Fists of Vengeance/Drakengard 1&2) now THAT'S what a C-Tier game looks like, an utterly mediocre (and being generous here) game that run like ass and looks sub 480i and with various game breaking bugs.

More like a PS3 era game but i agree wholeheartedly with the rest of his point, journos are shitting on this game because it has no pedigree or established fans (IE Nintendo/PS 1st party, Souls or mainline FF) who'd rip them apart for daring to criticize their sacred cow, and it has all the """"gross"""" stuff that was prevalent pre 2010 i.e an edgy toxic male lead, scantily clad women, with a token black male, and no tranny or SJW shit in sight.

Plus Team Ninja and KoeiTecmo in general has been on their shit list for years so it's par for the course, because of them we got these gems:

Hmm...sounds like John Linneman would agree with my original comments.

In it's general feel (ie the setting, art style, protagonists personality) it's 100% evokes that bygone videogame era (THE best era) but in it's mechanics and gameplay it's a modern game through and through.

Try it out before passing judgment the first 3-5 hours (3 main missions and 2 sub mission) are free on PS5/4/Bonex/SX/S.

Also play the weapons tutorials people trust me it's worth it to know each weapon unique quirk.

My comments weren't intended to be entirely negative. I was basically trying to say it has the "spirit" of those mid tier Japanese character action games that were common in the PS2 era.
John seems to have noticed that too. There are obviously modern and interesting elements present in the game, but going by the reviews it's wrapped up in a package that's a bit rough and dated. That said, I can see this game potentially gaining a cult following similar to Nier.

Honestly higher scores than I expected. Might check it out on a deep discount if it ever comes to PC.

I was considering getting it, even with the middling review scores, but I just found out it is an EGS exclusive on pc, so they can fuck right off.

Performance is an absolute dumpster fire on a Series X. Instant uninstall and refund. Thank God I only preordered it recently so I still qualify.

Looks like the Devil's Third of nex-gen titles, and I say that as someone that appreciates Devil's Third.
