An interview with Kenji Matsubara, President and CEO of SNK, has been published in the latest issue of Famitsu, and some of the content has been revealed.
  • The Crown Prince, who founded the MiSK Foundation, said, "I want SNK to aim for the glorious era of the 1980s, or even more." In response to that, he made a proposal aiming for the top 10 in the world and sales of 140 billion yen (*Capcom level).
    * In April 2021, SNK was acquired by the Electronic Gaming Development Company (EGDC) of the "MiSK Foundation" established by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia.
  • The Revamp (*described later) IP that revives past IPs also aims to be AAA. Aiming for AAA even for new IPs.
  • Considering the potential of the IP, we would like more customers to enjoy it by providing genres other than fighting games, such as action, characters and stories.
  • Eventually, I would like to create a flow that can be developed as entertainment in a broad sense, such as video content.
  • We call such efforts to revive and reborn IP as "revamp" (meaning to improve, reform, etc.).
  • (Q. Is the IP of fighting games such as Fatal Fury turned into open-world ACT or ADV?) We are looking forward to expanding into that genre as well. Developing into something with a story like action ADV or RPG is an important factor in expanding the IP.
  • I am working on a 10 year strategy. As for future prospects, the current scale of 400 development personnel will be increased to several thousand. Also considering M&A.

I don't care for fighters, but i would love to play one of their shooters like Metal Slug.

Bring back the lane fighting system! I think it's probably the best innovation SNK brought to the fighting genre that everyone else ignored.

the question is why does it matter?
No, the question is why you think tackling one issue is worthless until one tackles ALL issues, which is impossible. So people like you push for a world where nothing ever gets better. "B-b-but your iphone!"

no its simple minded people such as you who are a problem.

How about you tackle your own issues first, keyboard warrior?

I still really like SNK and want them to survive and succeed but I can't deny I haven't found them anywhere near as interesting post-2d. Still, I would like to see them build themselves back up to Capcom's competitor again.
