Shadow of the Tomb Raider Update 2.01 Released for 4K Support in 60fps Mode on PS5

Eidos has released the Shadow of the Tomb Raider update 2.01 patch, and this adds 4K resolution support to the 60fps mode on PS5.

Guess they saw how absolutely gorgeous the simple boost to 60 FPS (SotR is already a really good looking game and this just cements it) was by the Microsoft BC team, and decided to do it officially. Awesome news.

As fans of the franchise since the first game, my wife and I both tried playing it, but simply got bored and gave up after a couple of hours.

The story, dialogue, and characters, especially this re-reboot Lara, were just terrible, and the generic collectathon, Uncharted knock off gameplay had lost it's charm in Rise, let alone by this bloated third outing.

Honestly, Ive had more fun playing as Lara in Fortnite than I did in this trilogy.

I actually quite enjoyed Shadow. I thought it delivered fairly well and the South American weirdness was pretty goddamn creepy in places. Also....the underwater stuff was really really good and looks amazing. I managed to play through Shadow in one attempt, whereas I think it took me about 4 attempts to push my way through Rise because the game was truly bloated.

I liked it more than Rise but still not as good as 2013 to me.

It gets pretty ridiculous in terms of the skill tree and abilities you can acquire. Like, they finally added bullet time (minus shootdodging). Plain dumb popcorn fun. Good shit.

It's a great little upgrade.

One of the main reasons I wanted to go PC was to play my favorite classics (TR 2013 was one) in 4k 60 rather than 1080p 60. Really brought the game back up-to-date as strange as it might sound.
