The only question that matters is can I kill it?
This is a thread I'd meant to post on Gaf for some time, but never got around to it. Over the past year I've been restoring my physical games collection to its former glory. Most of these games are replacements for ones I purchased in childhood and sold to buy booze. Now I regret it, and rebuilding has been a long and expensive process.

Most of my collection consist of retro games from ages long past. It's only a small collection right now; but look how shiny.

Props dude. I'm a digital dude myself, but I do see the appeal for this stuff.

Very nice. A buddy of mine is selling off most of his collection and I didn’t realize the Parasite Eve games were going for quite so much nowadays (he’s asking like $70 for the first and $100 for the second).

Nice collection you have going there. I’ve been slowly rebuilding too. A long time ago I came home from college for break and my dad gave me the option to sell all my NES through PS1/N64 stuff to GameStop or put it all out in the trash that night because he didn’t want to store it anymore. GameStop gave me around $40 for all of it. Now it would cost thousands to buy it all back. Retro prices are crazy!

Damn dude that is a nice collection. I used to have a huge collection of PS3 games but I chucked them all in the trash. I'm going full digital these days now.

Noice partially rebuilt collection so far! It's like a gaming museum. I'm working on getting RE2 Gamecube so I can have all the RE Gamecube titles. The crown jewel of my gaming collection was Haunting Ground but I can't find it and some of my other PS2 favorites anymore

What I admire about this post @A Elbereth Gilthoniel is that you seem to only be going for what you truly enjoy. That's essential with the way prices are these days

I was a huge retro collector about a decade ago and had some real gems and a sea of crap. About 800 games total spread across most mainstream consoles, apart from like Virtual Boy and Sega Master System

Sold it all once during a rough period in between jobs, paying rent and everything, and maaaan was it hard to give up copies of gems like Haunting Ground, Cubivore, Clock Tower 2, and Trip World

I do sorta miss it sometimes. My Gamecube collection alone could have been a down payment on a car.

Thanks. To be honest, I haven't really played games regularly for over a decade, and by the early 2000s I was already going years between purchases.

In hindsight I think I was a bit picky, but back then I almost exclusively played RPGs. Most of these games I owned when I was a kid, but were lost to those terrible trades-ins at Game and Electronic Boutique back in the day. A few I never had but wanted, and some were never even released over here in the UK.

I sold a few valuable games with sentimental value my parents bought me as well, sadly to buy booze. I even contacted one or two people on Amazon and eBay to buy them back, but they must have thought I was crazy, since I never got a response.

Here's a few more, though I can't afford to get these encased in acrylic yet, and I've essentially ran out of space to display them in this cabinet.

@A Elbereth Gilthoniel Nothing wrong with being selective lol

The display cases make it. Looks like a game store tbh

How is Koudelka? Only recently heard of that one and it looks like an odd duck

I actually haven't even tried Koudelka yet. I just finished Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen. I enjoyed it, but those load times were brutal. I bought a copy of Diablo and I'm now just waiting for that to arrive. I wanted to go through these in the order of release, but I really feel like returning to Alundra or Grandia. In both cases I got near the end only to quit just before the final boss.
