Thread: Question for all you voice actors out there
I wonder if voice actors on long running animated series like the Simpsons, family guy, Bob's burgers etc. ever have existential breakdowns from playing characters that never or barely age while their own bodies slowly fall apart.

I mean, these voice actors have to internalize these characters to some degree… Like a part of them is the character.

It has to be a mindfuck to some degree.

I've always wondered how the Simpsons VAs actually feel about the show.

I mean there's some recent episodes where it doesn't sound like they're trying at all, but I wonder if that's because they don't care or because they're reaching their 60's and 70's and just can't keep up anymore. Perhaps both.

Good question.

Also interested in how they replace someone that has done a character's voice for so long and the new guy sounds exactly like the original.

With how badly the simpsons and other animated shows are written these days, I would be questioning if the money was worth it. After a couple of decades they shouldn't really need to work for money anymore. I would move on to more stimulating shows myself.

Jessica Walter really sounded bad in the last few seasons of Archer before she died this year.

It was very noticeable that basically from season 5 she sounded normal then season 6 she sounded like she had aged 20 years. Like her lung capacity wasn't up to snuff or something.
