Overall looks good. Kinda lame that PS5 version gets no love, but so surprised since MS bought Double Fine.

Probably 6-7 hours in and I'm really enjoying it.

Admittedly, I'm not a fan of the aesthetics, they remind me a lot of Ren and Stimpy, Beetlejuice and other freaky cartoons from my childhood. But I get what the developers were going for and that's well done. Pacing is perfect, lots of creativity, no stupid repition so far, and the "mind connection" or whatever it's called in English is a super fun gameplay mechanic.

I just need to tell myself not to collect all the things you can find in these areas, because there's sooo much >_<

Anyway, great GamePass release.

Hearing fantastic stuff about this, like GOTY contender stuff. First one had some of the best mind bending level design I've ever seen in a game.

That's good to hear. Agreed about the original with the level design. It was kind of bizarre that it never took off at the time, though it gained a cult reputation afterwards As said before really feel like they need to do a remaster of the original as well to bring it up to date as the game, for the most part, is still great.

This reminds me - I need to have another crack at the original at some point. Downloading now. Will have a proper look at that and then wait a bit before going in on the sequel - always better to give people time to decide if it's any good rather than buying the early hype (burned by CP2077). I do also have the concern that if Tay likes it it must be shit.

So this is only thread I could find from my literal 1 second search...

Anybody played it? I really like it mon self. The collectathon isn't obnoxious and ties directly to ranking, which itself is a bit superfluous but appeals a lot to my gaming-exclusive OCD. The creativity of the level design is super and while the cutscenes are not the best way to convey the story, they don't get in the way (i.e. I skip most of them and still get the point). The platforming is satisfying and joyful, like a shining diamond that illuminates the night sky.

Right now it's gearing up to be my fav game of the year.

I like it as well, it retains the charm of its predecessor and improves upon its bad aspects.
I don't really like the collectathons though and I think the platforming has only marginally improved. Some areas are a pain in the ass to traverse.
But yes, I quite like it, even though I have not played more than a few hours yet.

Started it yesterday finally and played up to the casino. Having a great time with it even though I'm still basically at the start but it gives me what I wanted from a sequel, more and better. I'll hopefully get some more time in after work this evening.

Edit: Must have hit the quote button by mistake.

Must admit that it hasn’t really grabbed me. Bit annoyed with myself for spending that much on it but it is what it is. It’s well-made and very pretty but for whatever reason the gameplay isn’t really grabbing me.

I feel a bit the same, which is why I have not played for two weeks. I got a month of Game Pass for October to play this and a few other games, but I haven't made much use of it.

Having said that, I am not having much fun with games lately, so maybe it is me.

I don't think I'll finish it until the end of October. If not, I will probably wrap it up next time Game Pass adds a few more interesting games and I get another month.

Tbh it didn't grab me in the beginning either. I spent around two weeks working up the interest to get past the Casino level and then the Beatles inspired one. The Casino level just isn't good IMO; especially as there's a lot of combat at that stage in the game and you haven't got most of the good abilities. It does get better but it's a slow start.
