Don't take it too hard mate. It's just amusing since you seemed to be taking a stand on making a Facebook account before but are just fine with Meta when, as it's been pointed out, it's the same thing. You are still supporting the platform and are creating avenues for them to hook you into giving them the same info you didn't want to in the beginning. It's always sad to see someone stand strong and then cave.
I wish people would just be honest and say that they want to play games more than taking a moral stand and admit they finally got you. I'd respect that more because making flimsy excuses could cause others who are trying to hold fast to cave in as well thinking they still have some moral ground to stand on.
Realistically, most people only have so much strength and energy to dedicate to taking a moral stand on certain things, especially if those things are more insidious and not so in your face like a lot of moral/spiritual issues people face. So they do what they can do as to stay sane. For instance, there are things I take a stand on in one area where it might make me look like a hypocrite in other similar areas I don't. I just don't dance around it.
In these recent clown years I do tend to take more of a stand on a lot more things, media in particular. It was hard at first but as I found that I was able to live just fine without certain things I'm actually much happier and feel way better about my life.
