Cora Jade sucks. Never was a fan of hers. They have Roxanne Perez, they don't need the inferior Cora Jade.

Dakota Kai deserved better, and her release shows that it's back to the status quo in WWE. She was Triple H's first hire back when we had such high hopes for him being in charge. Now it's like he's Vince 2.0 and her release solidifies that. She could excel in a place like AEW, but we all know that Tony Kahn doesn't care about any woman not named Toni Storm or Mercedes Mone, so she might as well head to TNA or maybe do an excursion to Japan and work some Stardom shows.

Strowman being let go is the biggest surprise. I loved his program with Bronson Reed.

Gigi Dolin was easy on the eyes and the only member of Toxic Attraction that was actually hot. I will miss her.

There's rumors that Austin Theory is next. I honestly kind of like Theory.

Meh Dakota was just not that good and would always get injured at the wrong times.
She was in a stable that had IYO become one of the biggest stars and Bayley win a rumble and title at Mania. Everyone in thst group became a huge success except for her
I think a fresh start in AEW could be good for her she was there for a long time and never really connected with the crowd on the same level as others and was always getting injured.

Strawman was overpaid and you could see he was pretty immobile . Honestly he should retire for his health. He had a decent run and probably made way more money then he should have.

WWE can't employ everyone and there are plenty of chances to make money in the business now.

Its like a sports team. The 3rd string kicker isn't going to have a 20 year contract. Most pro athletes have a 4 year career and then they go play in minor leagues or Europe or go into real estate or fitness coaching. Same thing with wrestling. Most of these released will realize they aren't cut for it at the top level and work indies or decide to become used car salesman or OF models.

Releases suck. I feel bad for people who lost their jobs and hope they all do ok. It's a shame that the indy scene has dried up in the last few years since that will make it harder to get by. But hopefully they can find opportunities in other promotions.

There are a huge number of people on the roster in WWE. And if you are going to bring people in or start moving people up from developmental then they need to make room.

Dakota Kai was one of the best things in NXT and WWE has not released other, so called, "injury prone" wrestlers. So, like I often do with popular opinions, I call bullshit on the injury thing. Dakota honestly brings more to the table than Iyo and Bayley and I'm a big fan of Iyo and Bayley. Dakota is just as capable of putting on a great match as Iyo, she's not limited by the language barrier, and she plays a phenomenal, psychotic heel. Dakota is better on the mic than Bayley and Bayley hasn't been as great in the ring as she used to be since returning from injury so I'm pretty sure Dakota can outdo her in the ring too. Dakota has more to offer than both women objectively at this stage in all three women's careers. She just doesn't have the legacy and history that Iyo and Bayley have built up, which is the only reason they wouldn't dare fire either one of them. You think people are mad about these releases? It's nothing compared to the shitstorm that firing Bayley or Iyo would kick up.

The only thing that has ever held Dakota back is WWE. Even when she wasn't injured all they ever did was job her out to people and they never gave her a good story line. So bullshit on that "she's injury prone" garbage. She SHOULD have won the IC women's title as Lyra's reign with it has been boring as shit. Having a Damage Control member win the title, especially with Iyo now being women's champion would have been so much more interesting, but that didn't happen because Triple H is an idiot. Iyo was even paying tribute to Dakota and Kairi in the match where she WON the world title. Dakota winning the IC title would have been LONG TERM FUCKING STORY TELLING.

Ultimately, Dakota is just another wasted talent by a booker who is proving to be every bit as clueless as Vince McMahon.

And that's the bottom line, because I SAID SO!

Putting a title on a fucking rookie with no real character or story like Lyra Valkyria when you had a veteran who is part of an established faction like Dakota Kai is one of those things that just makes me slap my forehead. I don't even know why they had Lyra get a win over Becky Lynch back in NXT. Nothing she has done has proved that she deserved that. Someone like a Stephanie Vacquer or even Roxanne Perez beating Becky right now in their careers would make more sense because they've been built up. Lyra was a nobody at the time and pretty much still is now. Just fucking stupid booking.

You have people who have put in the time and the work like Dakota, and they just get shafted in favor of rookies.

I don't mean cringe because they weren't PC. And yeh, the middle-aged DX were definitely worse. But I do just mean in general when you now look back at them there was plenty of dorky stuff that worked for kids but maybe isn't legitimately cool.

There were fun things about DX. Like I said, I thought they were cool at the time. A lot of people our age, I'm assuming you're around my age, did too. That's why you still see people, like athletes in various sports, doing crotch chops and that kind of thing. It's still fun to play around with that stuff. But I think the concept of them kinda works better than the reality.

You mentioned the WCW invasion. But is it actually cool when you watch it back? If you showed this to an adult with no prior knowledge of DX or pro wrestling, someone with no nostalgia for it, would they think it was cool? Is it not kinda dorky?

You're right about Waltman though he does seem like a cool guy these days and he did push the boundaries for who could be prominent in WWF

That segment is cooler than 90% of what we see in AEW and WWE today. I WISH someone would do an invasion angle. I'd mark out for some AEW wrestlers showing up at a WWE show or vice versa because it would at least be FUCKING INTERESTING AND SURPRISING unlike most of the slop that those two companies put out.

And frankly the people there watching this and interacting with DX proves that it was NOT "kinda dorky", at least not at that point in time. Saying that kind of stuff worked for kids is silly. DX was clearly NOT for kids. They were constantly making sex jokes and phallic gestures and they were far less subtle about that stuff then when you see someone do a crotch chop today. At the height of the Attitude Era there were a lot of adults watching. The product wasn't for children. They were trying to copy ECW and WCW and neither company was targeting children, especially ECW. The 80s was wholesome, family oriented WWE and the company tried to go back to that again with John Cena to the annoyance of many fans. In fact that hurt WWE a lot, the way Cena pushed away adult, male fans. He was only popular with kids and their hit the wall ages ago, soccer moms

Nah Dakota reacher her ceiling. She is an ok hand but in WWE she has been passed by a ton of other woman. She is also in her 30s at this time. I think she is 36 if I am not mistaken. She was always the least over of Damage CTRL. She hit her ceiling in WWE. I mean sure she could have been an IC contended or tag title contender swimming around in the mid card until she was 40 years old.

She can go to AEW now and get involved in some fresh match ups and feuds. She ran her course in WWE.

Its true it's true its damn true

Hamburger Boy! I hope he wears a hamburger outfit. And his main rival is the Mexican version of the Hamburglar.

When is the last time we've seen an actual meaningful title change in AEW?

Omega beat Takeashit for the international title and Hurty Boyz won the tag belts oh and Cole beating Garcia. But YMMV in regards to those being meaningful.
Omega barely defends the belt on TV and seems to do lots of multiman matches.
Hurry Boyz are busy with MJF hard to remember their last meaningful defense.
And Adam Cole is Adam Cole. Collusion fodder. TNT belt may have fallen lower than the ROH pure championship in prestige

This is largely why I don't enjoy AEW any more and struggle to even make it through a single episode. The reigns of Storm, Mercedes, and Moxley have become long and boring, and every other AEW title feels meaningless. The ROH titles are even more meaningless because no one watches ROH or even cares that it exists.

I feel like nothing that happens in AEW matters, so it's hard for me to care about anything. There are no stakes, no title changes other than the meaningless ones you mentioned, and no surprising shake ups to get one interested in the product

Every week feels like filler episodes.

We have this lame story with Nick Wayne's fake title (which is what every ROH title basically is) when what we really should be talking about at this point in time is Christian as AEW world champion. The Hurt Syndicate doesn't even feel like a real tag team, and they don't defend their tag titles. Okada has no meaningful story lines or feuds and barely ever defends his title. Adam Cole is Adam Cole, possibly the biggest disappointment out of all the former WWE talents in AEW.

Sigh

There is no title hierarchy.
Like the TNT title was supposed to be a secondary title but it now feels lower than the WWE hardcore title.. Garcia devalued the title in a worthless reign and Cole is as cold can be. Neither guy is someone who can drop the title and go to super Stardom.
The international title was being built up with Ospeary holding it and then it started getting hot shotted around. Takeashit holds it just not to get a big push but to drop it to Kenny who is just holding it to have an excuse for a match with Okada.
Okada has been C2 champ for like 18 months and never does anything with it shows up like twice a month to go over everyone. What is even the point of a title you win in a yearly tournament.
So I have no idea what these titles mean. In WWE you know that the world titles are top guys and IC and US are for mid card guys who can move up. You can see Gunther or Fatu or LA moving to the main event. With AEW you have no idea what the hierarchy of the belts are.
Throw in how little involvement you have with the trios and tag titles in big storylines or feeds.
And all the ROH titles are the same. You can barely even remember half of em exists like the Pure and Trios belts. They basically throw them on random AEW guys every now and then to give someone a shiny toy (Jerhico or Nick Wayne)
And worst of all Mox has hidden the world belt in a brief case and held it hostage in probably the worst AEW world title reign in history of the company.
But still they do put on great matches and really that's what the company is avout.

The irony of Corny mocking someone for getting names wrong.
Guy literally gets every wrestlers name wrong and often on purpose. Lyric Valadictorian. Kyle Feltcher. Take a Shit. Refgetiator Jax. I mean he has little names for everyone. And alot of the times it's because he really doesn't know their names. Which is sad since his job is to review wrestling and he can't even be arsed to learn the names of wrestlers for the one thing he does for like 5 hours a week.
At least Hogsn just inverted the names instead of making up some dumb mangled version of his name. Corny would have called him Sheldon Benjamin and made some dumb Big Bang Theory joke.

Which is alot more disrespectful than Hogan inverting Shetlons name.
Its just funny seeing him laugh at Hogan for messing up a name when that is basically Cornys gimmick.
Next he will mock William Hung for being a horrible singer. LIKE MUSSOLLLINIIIII.

Corny tends to do it with people he doesn't like though, and Hogan was trying to put himself over, so getting the name correct would have been better for him.

Dakota Kai, the lesbian that dates men.

If they didn't hire so many lesbians, they wouldn't have to fire so many lesbians.

The fact that they didn't get over and injured alot is something they have in common more than being gay. Also they cut these people along with lots of straight people and spread out over different releases. So if they release 20 people and 18 are straight but 2 are gay does that mean they are targeting straight people.
This is just Dave making up BS becuase his lazy BS didn't go over.
And it's funny that Toni is "queer" when she is in monogamous marriage with Juice Robinson.
Basically she is gay because she thinks some woman are hot so now she can play the gay card.

The nickname stuff has really ruined a lot of wrestling discussion. The Cornette ones were bad enough when they were just trying to be him and his fans used them enough that you could figure out who they meant.
But now, people make up their own nicknames for wrestlers, thinking they're smart, expecting everyone to play along. Sometimes they even have multiple nicknames for the same person. So they end up saying inscrutable shit like, "Whoop-de-do, or as I also call him, The Pudding Lad" and they're desperate for you to ask them to explain their bullshit. For all his talk about certain wrestlers killing wrestling, Cornette's own podcast has done its share of damage.

Cornette is one of the biggest hypocrites in the business. He also has horrible political takes. To be honest, it's hard to find people with good takes on the business. Meltzer has become a bit of a joke, then you have idiots on youtube like JD from New York. A lot of youtubers who cover wrestlers are just rage bate. I complain a lot but I do point out things I like too, but some people on youtube NEVER have anything positive to say.

Crony will almost never change his opinion. Like he hates Kenny for wrestling a 9 year old girl but nigel wrestled a ninja turtle. He also tries to act like booking the local armory for 300 people can compare him to Tony who sold out Wembly.
He is just an old head who hates modern day wrestling but can't realize all the bullshit that went on his day. And he clearly hates the product. His job is to watch wrestling and he skips through RAW and Smackdown. Doesn't even watch NXT or Collision. He pays the most attention to AEW but spends all his time shitting on everything because it pays the bills.
Best way to listen to him is to pretend it's all a gimmick.

He also has a bit of a humiliation fetish. The way he defends the old school hazing etc. I'm sure he got plenty of hazing and told himself "it's just a rib"

I don't think Cornette fully believes everything he says. I think some of it is based in his actual opinions but in pro wrestling style he's turning up the volume on it and leaning into a gimmick. There are old episodes of Wrestling Observer Radio, from the time when where he'd trash Meltzer on his own podcast but before their friendship had blown up, and he's all buddy-buddy with Meltzer and acknowledging that he doesn't really mean a lot of what he says on his show. I haven't [properly listened to him in a while but from the bits and pieces I do hear it seems like he's doubled down on that stuff rather than levelled out.

His audience now seems to be people who are mostly interested in hearing him rip into the wrestlers they don't like. It's a pity because Cornette does have a good historical knowledge and when he can stick to that he can be interesting. But the audience that are interested in that kind of thing is much smaller than those who just want to hear him go on about the latest AEW segment. Does he have a great mind for business? Not really, his time in positions where he was making decisions shows that. You can look at stuff like who he wanted to push in ROH despite who else he had at the time and how business went from struggling while he was involved to thriving after he left.

As @BlackDow says, Cornette is a literal cuck. He seems to genuinely enjoy getting humiliated. He would push guys based not on how good they were but their willingness to fuck his wife. His lack of social skills mean that there's no longer any promotions that he can work with. And that's not because he's selective about who he works with, him working with MLW shows he's not going to hold out to work with somewhere that's a major promotion or totally aligns with his preferences. He's just gradually burnt his bridges and is now stuck being a podcaster.
