This is the first time in Cena's career that I actually like him. Amazing what a heel turn can do for a guy, something a certain lame ass world champion who used to be in AEW could learn a lesson from
Anyway, it's nice that they are now leaning into the REAL history of John Cena, a guy hated by half of the WWE fanbase who drove many people away from WWE and wrestling in general. I was getting tired of all this "Greatest of all Time" gaslighting bullshit as if Cena was just this universally loved uber baby face with the greatest career ever. Cena did as much damage to WWE as he did good things for it.
Anyway, I could totally see his character being jealous of how Cody has been completely accepted by the WWE fanbase, for reasons I can't understand because Cody has no talent and isn't even in the same league as The Rock, Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan, Cena, and Roman Reigns but I digress. Notice how they didn't do a back-and-forth promo battle between Cena and Cody, because WWE knows that Cena would wipe the floor with him.
Cena felt more real and human in that promo than he has in his entire career. Why is it that so many wrestlers feel more like real people when they turn heel? It's like they finally stop all the fake bullshit and start telling you have they REALLY feel. I find I often connect more with heels than I do faces. Like I feel like Drew McIntyre and Kevin Owens have completely legit reasons for feeling the way they do even though they have been full blown heels for months now. In Owen's case, If I saw my best friend (Sammy Zayn) team up with the man I hated the most who has screwed me over repeatedly and physically assaulted me (Roman Reigns), I'd want to beat the shit out of my friend too. I'd be like, "fuck you Sammy"
I love how the crowd popped for Iyo during the signing segment. She does indeed deserve it, considering she's never gotten the monster pushes that both Bianca and Rhea have gotten. I honestly hope she retains as Bianca and Rhea as champions just feels done to death at this point.
Man, remember when there were rumors of how high Vince was on Theory? Boy, he certainly has fallen quite a bit. Not that I care that much, I was never a big fan, but it's kind of amazing to see.
I love Cena's heel turn, but I don't know how they keep this interesting all the way till Mania given how fucking boring Cody is. They made need to get the Rock on TV again. Rocky and Cena are going to have to do all the heavy lifting here.

Rolling my eyes at the idiots complaining that Cena didn't do a complete character change. First of all, that's too typical and generic for one of if not THE most significant heel turns in WWE history. Second of all, I fucking hate when wrestlers turn face or heel and suddenly become a completely different character. It makes no sense and is fucking stupid. John Cena is STILL John Cena, and that's why this heel turn is AWESOME. It's not a NEW CHARACTER, It's Cena...and he's fucking evil now. It's the same reason I loved Hangman Adam Page's heel turn. I hate when wrestlers completely change everything about themselves for no reason other than, "Well he's a heel now" or "he's a face now".
God there are some dumb motherfuckers in the Pro wrestling community. I guess that's why these companies so often get away with putting out a mediocre product.
Cena is bitter at the fans, and while that's not a new thing in wrestling, few heels have been as completely justified in feeling that way as John Cena. Hell, I used to hate him and boo him too. I was a "Cena sucks" guy. His promo felt like a guy who's actually been hurt by the fans and has held that grudge for a few years now, just simmering under the surface until a little devil on his shoulder called The Rock finally got him to let it all out.
AEW had some great in ring action tonight, but I still find myself bored as hell at the overall direction of the product. Athena eventually beating Mercedes is gonna suck, because we never even see this bitch on TV. Let's face it, Ring of Honor doesn't exist to 80% of the people who watch AEW. I wish Timeless Toni Storm would just die...not literally of course, I just wish the character would go away. Storm is the most over pushed woman in the company's history, even surpassing DMD, who I really miss these days. I don't care about Swerve becoming champion again, because unlike last time, there isn't a good build up and story line to him winning the title and Mox has been a shitty champion so it's not even going to feel like a big deal. At this point, I really think they should be strapping Hangman, the most compelling character in AEW (he always has been). Even Will Ospreay is boring as hell outside of what he can do in the ring. Christian would have been a fantastic champion too, but Tony Kahn fucked that up. We should be looking at a Hangman or Christian title run right now, not a boring Swerve Strickland title run. Tony Kahn is so fucking clueless.
I'm sad that Speedball dropped his old finisher, it was so badass.
Ricochet is a great heel.
Why is Billy Starks so awkward? She's great in the ring but everything about how she presents herself is...weird. Great match though.
I am so sick of the Death Riders, and I don't understand why Moxley doesn't get the "please retire" chants that people throw at Jericho. The thing stuck in his back was sic though, and very uncomfortable to watch. Takes me back to a Hell of War match in Lucha Underground where a piece of AR Fox's flesh was on a table. Nauseating.
If you're gonna waste Lashley as a tag team guy, at least try and build the division around the Hurt Syndicate instead of this MJF nonsense. AEW's tag division has been on life support. Either do that or put the titles on the Outrunners.
I don't need another stupid MJF faction. Been there, done that. AEW HAS TOO MANY GODDAMN FACTIONS!!!!!!

Damn I just discovered WWEVault on YouTube....how are they spitting out all these uncensored videos? They can't be legit right? I'm watching a 3 hour video of all the crow sting events. Best era of wrestling....possibly best storyline ever. And then after any good climax....it all went downhill after

WWE Vault and the WCW Vault are run by WWE. Because Netflix won't be putting up all of the old stuff, WWE are putting them on YT. It's 100% legit and 100% awesome.

I'm digging La Primera. She looks like a million bucks and can go in the ring and her English is coming along. Watch out Giulia, she may outshine you before you get back on TV again.
