Everyone's pissed at Sony for various reasons, but I'm pissed that they keep releasing shit I wanna buy lately.

I didn't even like the green when they first showed it during the state of play. But now it looks awesome to me. The pearl white was like "um we've already had white PS5s for 4 years, that's fucking stupid." But now it looks so cool.

I wonder if I made a mistake gunning so hard for my silver plates.

I already have four PS5 controllers yet here I am thinking about two more.

I mean…. I guess it's my PS4 box too. This thing is gonna be plugged into some TV in the house for the next decade (if it lasts). No harm in stocking up 🤷‍♀️

I'm odd when it comes to what I will or won't buy. I'm still using the controller that came with my PS5 4 years ago, plus another controller that was my brother's and got drift in the analog stick.

He bought himself a new one, so I tore his old one apart and cleaned out the potentiometer and have used the controller ever since just fine. I just can't push myself to spend $70-80 on a new controller for the color. Why am I so cheap on some things lmao

And my Pro will come with a fresh new white one, which I will mentally be stuck with for years to come.

As a bit of a change of pace, I'm going to write something positive about Playstation.

The PS4Pro is still bloody awesome.

So I finally got around to installing an aftermarket fan into the old girl, changed her thermal paste and gave her a good seeing to with an air duster and some isopropyl alcohol, and god damn is she whisper quiet now.

Running games on her that used to make her sound like a jet plane preparing for takeoff is now so quiet I can't hear her fans over the background music, and I had to really go out of my way to play for a damned long time and deliberately push the graphical effects more than would be usual for gameplay to even hear that much.

Even then once I went back into less intensive sections she's back to being basically silent.

Also it's been so long now I've been playing on the Switch, Steam deck or retro handhelds that I'd forgot how nice games can look on the PS4. Even just Fortnight had me occasionally stopping to appreciate how clean everything looks.

Also as much as the fan needing to be replaced irks me, actually opening up and disassembling a PS4 Pro is an absolute breeze. It's such an intuitive and well thought out bit of hardware architectural design it's genuinely fun to take apart then put back together again.

So yeah, the PS4 in all it's forms remains one of my all time favourite game systems, especially the Pro, long may mine continue to run.

I loved the PS4 Pro for the image quality. It was so nice in all the games. Fond memories of Infamous Second Son, so damn clean.

And that's what the PS5 Pro will deliver as well - at double the frame rate. Which is pretty cool.

I can't believe I didn't get into U2's multiplayer. I played the shit out of 4's, but I wonder what I was playing instead of U2 online.

Mhmmmmm

Dualsense Edge is 192€ on amazing right now.
I pre-ordered a Dualsense Edge 30th Anniversary Edition for 250€
It's on eBay for 350€ can surely be sold for like 330€ or so
Meaning the real delta for me keeping the sexy anniversary Edge instead of selling it is like 140€

Which is not insignificant. But it does look so good.

Mhm.

If you could afford to order the $250 30th Anniversary controller, then even a nice little profit kinda doesn't mean that much. Keep that cooler one!

New CoD having better performance on PS5 compared to Series X is kinda hilarious.

Despite buying ABK, Playstation still have the marketing deal which likely keeps them as the lead development platform over XSS/X.

Besides which, at this point I'd say it's hard to argue Playstation doesn't have the edge when it comes to hardware and/or software with games.

Striking Distance Studios? The makers of Calisto Protocol.

Blue Point, House Marque and to a lesser extent Naughty Dog all should have titles ready to go.

Just bought Clive Barker's Jericho off eBay, for PS3 of course. I had it back in the day and while it wasn't anything great, I remember having fun with it.

Prices are still cheap, $20 w/ free shipping. I think my PS3 collection is near complete in regard to the games you'd actually want to play/own.

Booted up Wolfenstein 2009 (Raven Software) the other night, having a lot of fun with that game. Been over a decade since I played it.

Controversial (I know not like me) BUT;

Jaggies, scart leads that struggled to not cut off the pictures at the side. Resolution <1080p, Long loading.

The games are largely amazing but the presentation is too lacking for me to consider it an all time great.

What's a better generation then?

There are plenty of ugly games from that generation. However, I'd argue that plugging those systems into a proper CRT is still beautiful to the eyes in 2024.

Putting them in an emulator and playing at 4k is a much better experience of those games for me.

What generation is best is purely subjective and mixed with nostalgia from the era when we grew up TBH. There is no right or wrong answer. I'm tempted with either the N64/PS1 gen or 360/PS3. If I could bend the rules a bit I'd definitely say PC now though, its gen has never ended and we have access to everything ever, with a much improved presentation on all fronts.

For the past three decades, we've shared an incredible journey, building stories and shaping experiences together. Along the way, we've found adventure, laughter, and lasting memories that go far beyond any one moment. We've forged new friendships and redefined what gaming is all about. Thank you for being part of this journey — we couldn't have done it without you.

Some of the reactions to the Pro are out of proportion tbh.

77 games with Pro upgrades
5 or so have dumb issues
The others offer a significantly better and often stunning experience

Yeah uhm, take 77 random games on any platform and I guarantee you, at least 5 will have tech issues. Incompetent devs will be incompetent, independent of the hardware.

And most of the games (Star Wars, Silent Hill, Alan Wake) that have issues have been plagued with tech issues before the Pro.

Shows Sony's issue with Japan, only having 2 developed games in the last 20 years, and 4 games including Capcom and Sega
