Persona 2 actually makes sense for a remake.

Persona 3... I enjoyed it when this game came out but the demand for it is insufferable. We've had three versions, countless ports, two spin-offs (PQ and Dancing In Moonlight), several anime, and other media (including several stage plays)

Yeah, I really just want to see the lesser-known games ported or remade because even though I love Persona 3 FES and 4, it didn't interest me when they started milking Persona 4 with the fighting game and PS Vita port.

That said, the Persona 2 and Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha duologies would be really interesting. I never played the first Persona either but it sounds like the PSP port has better localization so all they need to do is update the graphics and maybe fine-tune gameplay.

Persona 2 updated to match the modern games gameplay, especially the social interaction side, would be great. Interesting style and story, but the dungeon crawling was tedious and the lack of anything much outside of that meant I could never last more than a few hours with it. A total rebuild from.the ground up to put it fully in line with 3, 4 and 5, would be awesome.

3 just needs prettying up and combining FES with the quality of life improvements and FEMC option. A comprehensive remaster, instead of a remake.

Persona 3 just needs FES released for a modern console, not trimmed down P3P. I could play that game easily a fourth time.

With P2, I'd rather they just do a P6 with adult characters. Obviously Persona is a high school waifu simulator now (thankfully now with hot for teacher and playing with the goth doctor options so it's not as weird in my 30s) but it's a little stale. Japan loves high school settings because it's supposed to be the best time of people's lives, but I'm sure Atlus could make it work if they wanted.

Although, now that I think about it, I could get behind a P3make with a Toriumi SL romance route. . .

The all adults version of Persona was Catherine. Sadly it did not sell as well.

The all adults version of Persona was Catherine. Sadly it did not sell as well.

They only had the social-links in common, and that was overhauled for Catherine. I actually like how they did it better. Instead of a bunch of fairly-thin Arcana paths (except for the main buddies) it had two really fleshed out women with a ton of nuance in the conversation branches.

But yeah, adult puzzle game versus anime RPG.

I'd love a remake of P1 and P2 but I'm afraid they would butcher the games by trying to add in the social link stuff from P3 - P5, which wouldn't fit the gameplay of P1 & 2 all that well.

I'd also love an SMT IV collection with IV and Apocalypse for Switch/PS5 or PC.

I'm Surprised DDS 1 & 2 didn't rank higher. Those are ripe for a remaster/remake as well.

Eh, the dungeon crawling and puzzles in both were more thematic dressing, to add a sense of tension and high stakes to the meat of the games, which was the social interactions.

I know some people like the grinding drudgery of the gameplay, hence the ongoing minor success of Atlas's other titles, but I have low opinions of them.

I guess I thought of it more as Babby's First Shin Megami Demon Conversation since that's pretty much what they did, shifting the conversation and "relationship" of the demon interaction for something far more robust and separate from the battle. The dungeon crawling and the puzzles were definitely a side-attraction, though I know some people are really fond of Catherine's puzzle style.

Yeah, ATLUS is pretty good at keeping niche RPG sub-genres alive (e.g. Etrian Odyssey's old school style) but they aren't necessarily the best. I think of them like Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series... cool to introduce someone to the concept of roguelike, but not a series to stick with if you want meat. Again, considering the audience and the time period, Persona introduced a lot of people to their first SMT game, their first randomized dungeon-crawler, and their first Japanese dating sim all wrapped up in one game.
