I recently purchased a new PC that will be eclipsing my previous energy sipping Mac Mini. While the mini runs older games fine, it was not anywhere near strong enough for a lot of graphically intensive games that are coming out nowadays. Soon I will have a RTX 3070, i7-10700k at my disposal which will be a nice bump power wise.

The games I have been thinking about for the new gaming PC are flight simulator and crusader kings 3. What other PC games would you recommend that run on higher powered machines?

I'm a terrible person to comment on this but I'll do it anyways. I built a 2.5k+ computer back in in 2016. I tried Witcher 3 and Rise of the Tomb Raider on it for benchmarking then proceeded to play DOTA2 indefinitely. Witcher 3 with mods looks incredible for testing. I can also recommend Age of Empires 1-3 DEs. Not graphic intensive but fuck they're good.

Great to see you again!

Unfortunately I do mostly Switch but Arkham Horror: Mother's Embrace looks good.

Kingdom Come Deliverance. The best fucking game ever released on PC.

(just grabbed the first youtube I found - may be shit)

Well, it runs on almost anything but I can't recommend Deep Rock Galactic enough. You can always bump it up to 4k at 144hz if you want to push your system to the limit :D

I do love some age of empires 2. DOTA is nice on a powerful rig though, nice frames and even graphics thanks to the artstyle.

Then it will go past my 1440p monitor 😅, one upgrade at a time...

I picked up AoE2 recently - I really need to go find some time for it. Also picked up C&C remastered a while back. I can see a long weekend of RTS ahead of me.

I got the definitive of 2 - I'm told that's the best one, figure I may as well just go straight to the goat.
It is, but all 3 are good tbh. They're different eras and slightly different mechanics. 1 takes place is nomad->Iron Age. 3 takes place in Colonial->Industrial.

I'm a huge Civ VI junkie so I have to get that one out there.

Path of Exile is a must-have free to play game on Steam and they have added in a few graphical features that take advantage of better graphics cards.

Definitely co-sign Crusader Kings 3.

Command & Conquer Remastered Collection is pretty glorious if you played the originals. Calibrate your display settings!

The last two Call of Duty games were pretty good and have Ray Tracing/DLSS. You may want to just grab Warzone first since it's free.

AOE 2 is awesome. Never played it before, giving it a proper shot tonight and it's awesome.

I'll wait a bit before any multiplayer. I tend not to do multiplayer anyway but yeah I'm gonna need some time to git acceptable.

We can do a compstomp bro. That's what I do with most of my friends since they hate going against me :)

I really need to go back and give that another go now that I have way better hardware. I loved it at launch, but it was still quite rough around the edges and my GTX 1080 couldn't quite handle it in its full glory.

Probably the only game I backed on Kickstarter that I don't regret at all.

If we held a dpad aoe2 tournament you would stomp everyone pretty bad. I could play online but I've been playing other games recently.

should I make an AOE1-3 OT??
🤔
Not a bad idea. I rather missed the boat with RTSs in the peak era, right now I'm having a blast with AOE2 - the game is fantastic. Readable, gorgeous to look at, and just fun. It scratches the same itch as Stronghold for me, and that's a big compliment. Absolutely mega-impressed with what I'm seeing so far. Will need to dig into C&C remastered at some point too.
