Inherited Will
Remember when Imu had Wanted posters of Luffy, Vivi, Shirahoshi, and Blackbeard? They are the ones who will initiate the unstoppable swell, they will be key players in the Final War, and those four are the most dangerous pieces on the chess board. I've been thinking about it for some time, and those are the ones who can

A) Cause the most damage
B) Overturn the World Government
C) Control seas entirely after victory

In a way, they're all Kings in their own right, that's four Kings 100% against the WG. Luffy and Nefertari Vivi will turn the world upside down. If Shirahoshi does not get killed, she too will be an enormous factor in the Final War. And as we know, Blackbeard has had the power to destroy the world ever since the events that transpired at Marineford

And then there's this:

IJwBT3v_d.webp

Shirahoshi is the one who must be dealt with first. Why? Because if she sends the order to Sea Kings all across the ocean then chaos beyond measure will ensue. Shirahoshi is currently the most dangerous King in all of One Piece. Eventually it'll be Luffy. But Shirahoshi can sway an entire war with her command

We know that Devil Fruits modify their users' Lineage Factors, so it seems reasonable that Shirahoshi may have an inheritable "Devil Fruit" ability that makes her an Ancient Weapon.

We see that with another powerful force - the Kozukis, who seem to have a similar power over Zunesha. The Voice of All Things is a common thread between them, but that has not beem expanded on yet. Maybe one of Joy Boy's OG "crew" was a Kozuki who married a mermaid and had the first Posiedon-user by passing on the Voice of All Things ability to her? That could also be why the Ryugu royal family have a lot of Japanese Wano names and influence.

We also know that the ancient kingdom was technologically advanced, so Noah is a little weird in that context. Why not just a submarine? But after seeing Joy Boy's personality manifest, I could see his crew building Noah. Someone then asks, "But Joy Boy, how will that get to the surface?" and he just laughs and grabs some fishes and stretches and molds them like ballon animals into Sea Kings and says "There!" with a giggle. TBH, the Sea Kings look very whimsical and silly even for One Piece. We know Joy Boy also had the Voice of All Things, so he could have commanded (perhaps with Conqueror's Haki?) the Sea Kings to obey the Kozuki mermaid like it is implied he commanded Zunesha to roam forever.

I am not sure what to make of Vivi's connection to Im yet. Im obviously hates Lili and is affected by Vivi's resemblance, but it seems personal rather than just the usual Celestial Dragon superiority complex. I was kind of hoping Im would be a woman, but it feels like Im is a man who was betrayed by Lili.

Blackbeard has been set up as the opposite to Luffy, sort of a dark dreamer. He wants to become a new ruler by using people (e.g. stealing Devil Fruits, which we now know are a form of "dream"), not just a free man who supports others. The Yami Yami no Mi is noted to make the user feel increased pain, so it feels like it grounds the user in the "world" compared to the Nika fruit. Maybe the YYnM has the lineage factor of Im lol. Just as the HHnM: MN is described as the "most ridiculous" Devil Fruit, the YYnM is described as the "most evil".

@Franky Family, any thoughts on the Netflix live action? I'm genuinely impressed by it. The East Blue villains in particular are so well cast its kind of crazy. Pity that MINOR BARATIE SPOILERS Don Krieg is not in the show.

Sets and costumes look way better than I expected. Even the Devil Fruit CGI is not really bad. They almost have a good Roger Corman movie-feel to them, with the limitations taken advantage of. I've seen some people on /a/ grumbling that it looks like any other LA anime adaption, but it is way better than shit like the FMA adaptions, across the board.

I might save the live action for later. All that's needed for the time being is the manga and the anime. Cannot wait for the next One Piece Film though, went to see One Piece Film: Red twice in theaters. They can do much better, and that's what I'm hoping for. Next movie should be about Usopp and Elbaf

Don Krieg is in the Live Action show. Just not where you expect to see him.

Watched the first episode of it yesterday, and I am impressed as well.

I am by no means a One Piece buff, but from the little I have seen, the live action captures the weirdness and character of the original for a good bit.

Will continue watching.

No previously history with One Piece, but I watched an episode of the Live Action series and...I didn't hate it tbh. Characters are pretty OTT, but main dude makes me smile with his relentless optimism and that in itself is no bad thing. Going to watch a bit more .

I wrapped it up this morning as it is too hot to play Starfield as we have a heat wave going on currently.I very much enjoyed it overall. Still, I'm curious to see whether it is successful enough to secure a second season. Netflix spent around $18 million on each episode, which, given the sets, costumes, and stunt work, doesn't surprise me that much. However, with a second season, a lot of the heavy lifting is already done, so I suspect it bodes well. According to the Showrunner's the Season 2 scripts are already written, so they could get a season 2 out in less than 18 months after the strike is over.

They also filmed when Covid hit which caused issues and cost rose. You noticed earlier seems there were more extras but later on there were much less extras.

They initially wanted to do 10 episodes and included Logetown. As you can see in the prologue, Roger's Execution they already built Logetown set.

Glad you guys are having fun with the show, I know Oda put a lot of time and effort into the live action all the while giving us amazing manga chapters, supervising the anime episodes, producing One Piece movies. He's definitely a genius and a work horse of legendary proportion and his work deserves to be known worldwide on a massive scale. I would argue that One Piece should be a household name like Mario. The story told and the characters are that incredible

Great news, Oda deserves it. I hope the fans who've enjoyed the live action episodes will one day tune into the anime or even the manga to get the full experience of One Piece eventually. Going to read the latest chapter either today or tomorrow, we're getting closer to another 100 chapters released. Only eight more until chapter 1,100 and it's probably going to be one of those landmark chapters for the arc. Oda likes to send a message with an exclamation mark at the end with those kind of milestones

The live action is so bad. Lasted 45 minutes or so of first episode then just skipped through episodes stopping here and there and man. Lol. Terrible.

Few episodes to knock out to be caught up again on anime.

Yeah I honestly find the praise bizarre. Where the anime/manga is fun and quirky the live action just comes off as odd and cringe.

I hate that you can't talk about One Piece anywhere without having that shit shoved in your face now.

I'm rewatching anime now! Skypiea is really underrated. Not saying it's best. We get fist appearance of Blackbeard, Do Flamingo and Bellamy. Also, the important of Poneglyphs.

Plus the crew got familiar with Mantra/Haki.

Nolan's and Kalgan's backstory is heartbreaking.

Anime can be really cringe too and I love it. The things you describe about the anime is basically same thing people praise about the live action.

I've watch a lot of reaction videos especially new viewers. Live action is getting more popular because of the new viewers and I'm seeing some of those new viewers wanting the anime.

One Piece could never be 1 to 1 like anime/manga without an outrageous cost behind it.

I'm just happy it's not shit show like Death Note and Cowboy Bebop. It carried the essence of One Piece. IMO

Those things work in animation, not in live action. In live action it looks plain stupid.

I don't care dude.

No it couldn't, which is why it's stupid and pointless for there to even be a live action. Why tf should I watch a worse version of a better thing?

Good for you.
Then we should never try to crossover any media according to you. We should forget about all the comic book movies or fantasy like Lord of the Ring Trilogy movies. A lot of people like to see their favorite stories come to life.

You watching it or not is your preference, no one is putting gun on to your head to watch it. No one is saying live action is better. I like all media, some adaptions are bad and some can be good.

So you complaining about seeing One Piece everywhere, that's a YOU issue. People will talk about the things they like and One Piece live action is considered good and enjoyable to watch by many!

Cool false equivalency bro. Comic books and novels are by dint of their creation capable of being being adapted into live action faithfully. Though that doesn't stop most adaptations from being garbage/mediocre.

Anime and manga are defined by characteristics and styles that are only possible by being anime and manga. You lose 90 percent of that identity in live action. You're not "seeing it come to life" with a live action adaptation, you're just getting a worse version of something that's already good. It's a wholly unnecessary endeavor, much like every single Disney live action film. These adaptations do not add any value to the property simply by being live action.

One Piece as an anime/manga already has more than enough liveliness and color to it as it stands. Moreso than you'll get with a bunch of cringe cosplayers standing around firing off one liners.

No shit, this is all obvious. You're pulling all of that out of your pocket with little reason.

So you complaining about seeing One Piece everywhere, that's a YOU issue. People will talk about the things they like and One Piece live action is considered good and enjoyable to watch by many!

I say again, no shit. You're getting pressed for no reason. People liking something isn't some kind of vindication of its existence. Millions of people like Tiktok and it's still a trash platform.

Same here, recently finished the Water 7 Saga for the anime and am currently reading the Skypiea arc. Skypiea is incredible when you read it. Loved the Jaya arc too in the manga. Entirely different perspective when reading the material and in some ways, it even heightens the feeling of adventure

I've been rewatching Thriller Bark with my sister since we're coming up on October, it's amazing the amount of stuff you forget. So MUCH has happened in One Piece it could fill several different series in its runtime.

I'm mainly manga reader, since around Fishman Island arc. So I got no opinion on anime episodes after that.

I started with anime and rewatching just remind me how much each episode is extended out with a lot of filler. Understand they did that so that Manga can pull ahead.

I'm going to reread some of the earlier arcs!

II enjoy all types of media and genre. I never expect adaptations s to be 1-1 of source. It's impossible due to limitations of each media.

I want them to at least try and let the fans or new viewers decide if the show is good or not.

Everything is preference, not everyone likes to read books/comics or manga. Not everyone likes to watch cartoons/animation or live action. That's a great thing!

Some adaptations can be good, some bad. Fans will decide. Look at Witcher, Cowboy Bebop, Wheel of Time and Rings of Power.

Witcher I like fist season and then it went to shit, I said my peace after second season and move on. Similar to other shows listed. I moved on, no views, no engagement.

You don't like One Piece live action. I'm ok with it and a lot people are liking it considering the numbers.

Each medium is trying to draw more fans or viewers to these stories. It seems One Piece live action is doing that. Like I said earlier, I seen some people picking up the anime now because they became new fans.

If season2 of One Piece live action is shit. I'll say so and move on.

It's ok to let people enjoy the things you don't like. Say your peace and move on.

People always do this shit whenever anyone says they think something is bad.

Where did I say people can't enjoy it? When did I try to stop them from enjoying it?

Bonk said something and I responded to it, YOU are the one with the issue here contesting my opinion, not the other way around.

This is what I had issue with.

I just want more people to get into one of my favorite things. One Piece is my favorite Manga/Anime(up to Marineford - no opinion on later arcs since I stop watching). One Piece live action is good enough to help expand the fan base.

I'm not trying to shut you down. I have ran into too many purist and gatekeepers.

If that's not you! Then we can agree to disagree on live action.

If I took it wrong. My apologies.

This is what I had issue with.

Why? Why does it bother you that it annoys me that I cannot talk about One Piece without having the live action brought up again and again?

I don't care if other people want to talk about it or like it or w/e. I just wish I could avoid having it in my face all the time.

You saying that won't annoy anyone that likes the live action?

Seems you are the one annoyed by people talking about the live action.

This is a One Piece thread, live action talk is bound to come up.

You can say what ever you like doesn't mean there won't be anyone that won't take issues with what's said.

Post are hard to determine tone and intent. But we are communicating and I'm trying to understand you. Maybe you can understand what I'm trying to say. 😂

Yes, I don't like talking about One Piece for someone to derail the conversation into live action talk when I don't give a fuck about it. I thought that I was pretty direct in saying that.

We have a live action discussion thread, but I wasn't talking about DPAD anyway. I was talking about general OP discussions.

For the record i really liked Gantz live action and super corny GTO live action

Hardensoul with those opinions you are now Softensoul

Where in this first post of my response to you? To make you change my name to Softensoul. If it's sarcasm I missed it.

I have not said anything about people posting about disliking the live action - that's a matter of personal opinions. As for Gantz live, you liked it great!(This is not sarcasm). I've never seen, so no comment.

My conversation with @Dacon is about the discussion surrounding that live action. Which it seems we still are misunderstanding each other.

Don't know who's derailing OP discussions. My reply's are specific between live or anime or manga. Manga is obviously ahead so I try not to spoil for the non readers.

We don't have official Live Action One Piece thread. There's the thread that talked about the LA trailer.

I thought this thread about all things One Piece.
