Oh alright... I'm coming back to NMS again...

I already have it installed on my Ally but just haven't jumped in. I keep picking up other games, but now I can't say no any longer. 😬

Jason Plays goes over it and breaks it down

Still, fundamentally this was a big-assed update (20GB on Steam 😵 ) and seems to have overhauled the environments massively, building on the upgrades already carried out with Worlds Part 1 last year.

Terrible timing for me. Already trying to finish 2 games before KCD2 and then MH Wilds, and Rivals always beckoning...

I think the sudden drop was a bit of a surprise because they were looking to get ahead of KCD II

im wondering if this game is still selling or the playerbase still playing?

apparently something is still going on for them to be dropping these big ass updates.

Props to the developers.

I have to play this game at some point.

I am fairly sure the tech they are upgrading is used in their upcoming Light No Fire. It's great they can test it all in NMS.

Plus, I'm guessing they made so much money early on from NMS and they are a small studio, so they can afford to. They also won their reputation back this way. Kudos to them.

That's my take too. They're building their next game and either backporting some tech over to NMS for testing, or just distributing team workload so that when some parts of the LNF dev team are waiting on something else to get done, they do some work on NMS and help keep Hello Games in the spotlight and build further goodwill - for when LNF inevitably runs into issues at launch and people have to be reminded that yes, these things do happen, fixes will be made, these people made No Man's Sky, give them time.

I'm wondering if somewhere in their total remake of the lighting system they ever managed to fix the stupid base-building shadow bug, where if you highlight (i.e. mouse over) a part in edit mode its shadow disappears and doesn't come back. :p

Wow, so they put this update out while they were also re-running The Cursed expedition? They're really trying to fuck up my gaming goals here haha

I did Omega, Adrift, and Liquidators. I skipped Aquarius. It was probably cool, but I was just playing other things. I really want those rewards from Cursed...

They will likely rerun them at Christmas Grinch.

Yeah but that's like a year away lol

It was fun grabbing all those rewards while I could. And it was perfect timing for me that they were running them exactly when they did. I'm getting that cursed FOMO and poor old metroid dread and Ragnarok are giving me the side eye.
