I'm a Rolling Stones fan and I dont hate that little teaser clip, but how the fuck are these guys still alive?

Healthy diet of sex, drugs and rock and roll. On a serious note, Mick Jagger is a health nut and Keith stopped smoking on stage a while back.

A new Beatles single is also reportedly coming out this Fall. The Sixties strike back.

They're been promising to finish that Lennon recording for 30 years, I wouldn't be so sure.

Yeah, but Paul McCartney, Ringo and Sean Lennon have all said recently that the song is indeed now finished. All that's missing now is an official announcement. Rumor is that it'll be used to promote a new "Red and Blue albums" compilation.

I've heard the single a few times over the last week; I've decided its terrible.

The song itself would be better without all the vocal processing but @cryptoadam called it. It just sounds like a bad AI reproduction of Jagger and its really horrible.

There's autotune and heavy processing but it's his voice. He's been recording vocals in 2020-21 for special editions of Goats Head Soup and Tattoo You and band were playing live in 2022. He sings fine for his age.

He is still a powerhouse live, considering his age, he is remarkable.

Not sure how you can tell with all the auto tuning.

It's sad when you see a band and the vocalist can't do it anymore....I'm talking dudes in their 40's and here's Mick just dancing about unfazed, some people are truly blessed

Yes, as part of a completely pointless re-release of the old Red and Blue compilation albums. Nothing but one last attempt at squeezing some more money out of babyboomers who already have bought all of those songs 10 times over.

At least it will be fun to hear a "new" Beatles song.

They are remixes. About half of them are new, including early double track recording and She Loves You which exists only in mono. Curious what they did there.

I know they're remixes, but how many times should we buy slightly different sounding versions of the same songs? We've been sold first the 1987 CDs, then the newer CDs, and now this, and every time it's sold as the "definitive version" sound-wise. Some of those songs -- the early ones -- are basically 3-guitar and a drum kit recordings, how much is there to "reveal" through a new mix?

You can just listen to it on youtube or pirate the flacs. Remixes are more than lazy remasters and I'm all for having more of those. So far they remixed about half of a catalogue. Remixed White Album was a great improvement for example.

I'll listen on Spotify -- once.

I've ordered the 12-in. vinyl single. It'll be a nice memento of this special occasion, with the first and last Beatles singles on the same platter. But I don't even have a turntable! The artwork they chose for the cover is controversial, to say the least, but it's so unexpected and un-Beatles-like that I like it.

Sounds meh I think. I like Love Me Do remix though.

The new song is better than I expected, in that I think it's as good as it could be in the circumstances. The main melodic line of Lennon's verse is used to its full potential, the production and strings give the whole song weight and importance, and the last few seconds, where the slide guitar repeats the main melodic motif twice, and then the strings one last time, is a truly great Beatles moment and a beautiful "ending" to the whole Beatles adventure.

Paul's slide solo could be better. He's obviously going for the less is more approach, but a couple more notes could have added to the emotional impact.

They removed an important part of Lennon's demo and overall I prefer old fan edit (which is impossible to find on youtube now)

Yes, they removed the bridge, which was lyrically incomplete -- but McCartney could have written new words and sung it. I guess they didn't know what to do with that section.
