Hello Pad

Got myself a 2nd monitor. I have a ultrawide and bought a regula 22 inch LG. My had my ultrawide set up at 2560x1080. Its hooked up through a usb c dock.

Problem is that now i dont have 2560 x 1080 available. I only have 2560x1440. I tried to set up a custom resolution with AMD graphics center but it wont accept it. I have a second PC hooked up to the monitor and when I switch from my laptop to the PC the 2560x1080 is there. Same if disconnect my 2nd monitor from the dock.

Anyone have any suggestions how to force 2560x1080 ? Do i need to somehow hook up the 2nd monitor directly to my monitor or something ? 2560x1440 on a widesreen looks gay.

TLDR dual monitor setup. One is a 1080P 22Inch monitor. Other is a ultrawide. Want them both set up with the wide at 2560x1080.
 
I have three displays setup, but my GPU is Nvidia. Maybe AMD is being shitty as usual.

Check what multiple display method is used. It could be set to cloning which is bad for different resolution displays. Switch to expand view. Some of those setting are in Windows. I'm not at computer right now so can't navigate you.

Also what's a usb-c connector? Plug them into display ports as intended by nature.
 
Not sure I understand the setup. Can you connect both monitors straight to the gpu? Do that if you can, make sure they're both set to the same Hz and they're not in clone mode, and see if anything changes.

I am in extended view. Its just odd because when its one monitor its fine but as soon as I hook up the second smaller one the 1080 option is gone.

Its a laptop so i use a hdmi dock to hook it up. I will check the HZ i think its something with the other monitor being 1080P.
 
This is only happening when you're using a USB-C dock? And it's forcing 1440 instead of 1080 for the second monitor? What input are the monitors connected to the dock with?
 
I'm not familiar with USB HDMI hubs. Could it be you're hitting a bandwidth cap somewhere? There's an option in the AMD software called virtual super resolution, or something like that. It allows you to set resolutions higher than your monitor's native res. Maybe try that and see if windows lets you choose an ultrawide res. Also set both monitors to 60 hz for now.

On a picture it seems to have only one HDMI output. You have a version with two outputs and try to use it to power two monitors? USB isn't fast enough to replace HDMI or DP let alone support two of them at the same time. Connect your monitors directly. If you only have one video output on a laptop, connect it to a monitor and another one via USB hub.
 
Check if your dock has a firmware upgrade.

I have the same issue at work on my laptop, seems to be a combination of hdmi and Display port and the bandwidth available through the USB dock.

I would remove the dock. These things have bandwidth issues.

Yup only when both monitors plugged into the dock. I also have higher res in the 3k range. The only res I dont have is 2560x1080.

If I unplug the normal monitor I have 2560x1080 with the ultrawide.

But whats odd is i have higher res than 2560x1440. But i was thinking its a bandwidth issue. I use the dock because its a laptop and it was easier to move it because i have to travel baxk and forth from work.

I will try that but not sure how that set up works. So i connect one HDMI to my laptop and the other to the USB hub and still connect the USB hub to the laptop as well ?

I will try it out later today. And the hub has 2 HDMIs and a few USB ports on it. Its not the one from Amazon its a different brand just used that as an example.

Ideally both through HDMI, but if lapton has only one output, try plugging ultrawide into it and another via dock.

This is what I was going to suggest. I ran into somthing similar to this. Bought two new 4k monitors and when running my laptop through a Dell 4K 180W dock, I couldn't get one of the monitors to push out the resolution/refresh I wanted. Turned out to be an issue with my dock being able to push the resolution to both monitors. I had to plug one of my HDMI's into my laptop itself. Couldn't have them both running through the dock which others are mentioning here. Docks suck, no lie.

Your issue seems to be getting a lower res so not sure what the deal is there. Bypass the dock for one of the monitors and see what happens.
 
Ok so ya pluggging the laptop directly into the monitor and then the other one into the dock worked. I guess it just couldn't handle 2 1080 signals or some BS. Because 1440P is higher than 1080 but whatever. Now Injust got a few more wires to unplug when I take the laptop to work.

Now i gotta see if i want to return the monitor that was 22 inch and get a nicer 24incher with maybe smaller bezels. Too bad my desk isnt big enoug to get another ultrawide. They have and LG for 200 at BB and i saw one on Amazon for 160.
