Yeah, he is an amazing actor. He has that presence around him, swordsman's spirit.will absolutely be watching, hiroyuki sanada is still a bad ass at 60yo
My same thoughts. Also Fedde gets the start for the Nats. So ya, I choose possible shitty movie.Oh shit, I completely forgot about this. The wife and I will watch it tonight. It can't be worse than the other two, so it has that going for it already.

That's a low bar to begin with, but the first movie is okay...ish. And even that is probably with a heavy dose of nostalgia carrying it.I thought at the very least that the first movie is still considered pretty good for a videogame adaptation.

Anything coming out of Hollywood these days is going to have a certain amount of woke shit in it, the question is whether or not it's tolerable. I'm about to start watching and I'll report in if nobody else does. Most important question..
Is it woke? Please tell me it isn't woke.

You know. It wasn’t awful but there were some choices that I can say I didn’t like. Not even a big fan of the story route they picked but I won’t ride that too much. I have more issues with character related things. The action was good tho.
Is the storyline connected to the most recent games?

Mortal Kombat producer Todd Garner was shockingly blunt when he revealed the ugly truth about why Johnny Cage won’t appear in the film.
In a lengthy interview with Inverse, Garner first detailed why they chose to introduce a brand new character with Lewis Tan playing Cole Young.
He explained, “If you walked into the theater and you didn’t know anything [about Mortal Kombat], would you enjoy it?”
“We have to, by the end of the movie, get everyone caught up. So if they let us make another one, then we can start really digging into the characters,” he added.
He would go on to detail, “You have to go into [making] it knowing there are hardcore fans who know every single thing. But you have to be realistic.”
"If you’ve ever taken your mom to a movie and she’s like ‘What’s happening?’ and you’re like, ‘Mom, shut the fuck up.’ That’s the problem with Mortal Kombat. It’s so goddamn complicated. Cole asks the questions, ‘Who? What’s happening?’ and he gets the answers,” he said.
Garner would then elaborate, “There are a lot of characters in the Mortal Kombat universe and there’s no character I could take and dust off and give a new backstory. We needed somebody to completely manipulate, so there’s not 30 years of people going, ‘You can’t do that.’”
After explaining why they decided to introduce a new character in Cole Young, Garner would then reveal the truth about why Johnny Cage does not show up in the film.
He stated, “I feel like if I was getting to make a movie with a diverse cast, it felt weird to have a white actor, literally Johnny Cage, be the hero of the story.” That’s right they didn’t want to include Johnny Cage because he’s white. There’s a word for that. Racism.
Inverse’s Eric Francisco would provide more context on the decision not to include Cage. He writes, “These discussions took place at the start of the movie’s pre-production nearly seven years ago “way before Black Lives Matter” and other pushes for diversity across industries including Hollywood.”
So from these statements, it appears from the movie’s inception they intended to make it racist.
However, Garner says, “We don’t want to disappoint the fans. That being said, there’s no possible way to make a movie where everybody gets what they want.”
Nah, you can just include all of the original Mortal Kombat characters except for Johnny Cage because he’s white. What a crock.
In the Mortal Kombat lore, Johnny Cage is the stage name for Jonathan Carlton. He’s an action movie star and martial artist , who initially enters the Mortal Kombat tournament in order to prove himself to his critics who believe he’s not really a proficient fighter.
Cage was one of the seven original Mortal Kombat characters that debuted in arcades back in 1992. The game also featured playable characters in Kano, Liu Kang, Raiden, Scorpion, Sonya, and Sub-Zero. The game featured non-playable characters Shang Tsung, Goro, and Reptile.
All of those characters except for Johnny Cage have been featured in promotional trailers and material for the upcoming movie.
This is just more evidence that Hollywood doesn’t give an iota about real storytelling and they are creating films specifically to push an agenda. Not only that, but they are openly admitting that their agenda is racist now.
Take this with a grain of balls....

Mortal Kombat Producer Reveals The Ugly, Racist Truth About Why Johnny Cage Isn't In The Movie

It took me almost 15 minutes to copy and paste this. I ain't going to be c&p'ing articles except for important parts for now on. Mainly just going to provide links.
Also I've heard from a few people who've seen it says it sucks.

mortal kombat isn't all that complicated
a bunch of bad dudes / dudettes get together somewhere and fight each other to the death, basically bloodsport on steroids with sorcery and dark magic tapped from a variety of supernatural or occult legends
graphic violence, grim dark lighting, damp to cold settings atop clocktowers or within infernal crypts set ablaze by steeping cauldrens
didn't watch yet but i really hope they didn't fuck this up because they probably won't have another shot at things of this caliber for a while, very least i hope boon is happy with the finished product
Trust me. Not a big deal.
Is this the bitch that sucks you up and spits out the bones
Holy fuck that movie was poop
But it was new and so bad it was a fun time
HBO Max was the best thing for it tho
Raiden sounded like an Asian Arnold Schwarzenegger to me. But you are right, a number of the characters were handled better than I expected. Kabal being the best surprise for me.The story line is what got me. Felt a bit weird. Would have preferred something more...standard for Mortal Kombat. Plus they did a few characters so wrong. BUT Kano, Kung Lao, Kabal and Sub Zero were pretty cool. It’s mindless fun but I am notit’s getting a sequel.
The second sub zero was a good guy. Not the first one tho.Cast had 0 charisma outside of Kano. Cole was a horrible lead and when you have so many characters why make up a new one for your lead?
I always thought Sub Zero was more of a good guy than Scorpion. And seeing how popular he is why not make him the main protagonist?
Came off as a SyFy TV movie. Its a video game movie not expecting a masterpiece but at least have actors that can carry the movie. TBH this abd monster hunter kind of merged in my brain.
I have to imagine alot more movies gonna look like this in the future. Cheap looking filled with a cast to appeal to the chinese market. Wasnt sub zero a white guy in the game ?
Stupid movie that could have heen fun if any of the actors could sniff Lamberts jock strap but they all sucked.
