Total shipments and digital sales for Monster Hunter Rise have surpassed four million units worldwide, Capcom announced.

Monster Hunter Rise launched for Switch on March 26 worldwide. A PC version is planned for release in early 2022.

In comparison, Monster Hunter: World shipped five million units in the same amount of time. Monster Hunter: World was available for PlayStation 4 worldwide, as well as Xbox One in North America and Europe only.

It always amazes me how much these games sell. I've tried several times to get into them, and I just do not enjoy them.

I'm honestly surprised World sold more. Even with Xbox adding a but more, that's very impressive for the series on home consoles.

Same for me. I tried the one on PSP, World and the demo for this new one. Everything always just feels too slow and clunky to me. Good sales for Capcom though.

Anyone remember when these were ultra-niche, and sometimes didn't even release in the US?

Like you guys, it blows my mind that such a hardcore, specific game, is doing so well.

Nice. I really like the look of this one, but am probably going to wait for the PC version.

I got my copy the other day from BB ( I forgot I ordered from there ... duh ) but for some reason it came in 2 packages. One was the game the other seemed like some steel book thing that I know I didn't order so maybe it was a bonus of some kind . Haven't opened either package yet but will very soon .
I haven't played this series since my 3DS days and wondering what weapon set are you guys and gals going with ?

Tried getting into MH back when the original released on PS2. I hated the combat engine and still can't understand how it manages to be so popular.

I would definitely recommend giving it another chance either with World or (presumably) this. They made a lot of major updates with World that makes the player experience far more enjoyable (although some old purists claim they diluted the real Monster Hunter experience).

If it was the deliberate combat animations that couldn't be cancelled midway that bothered you, though, then probably skip it. That part hasn't changed over the years.

I have world but haven't played it myself. My son played it quite a bit when it was just released and liked it a lot. I watched him play a few times and think it looked really good and fun. I will get to it, I promise, but the backlog being what it is ...

I think it was more about the weight and speed of the combat. I prefer the responsiveness of fast-paced combat engines that are usually found in character action / hack and slash games.
