Thread: Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning | May 23, 2025
One of the very rare movies I can say I'm looking forward to watching. Liked the first part and was disappointed this had been delayed so long, hopefully they can stick the landing.

Biggest gripe I have with these Cruise movies is that they're pushing the replacement of humanity by AI quite hard.

I don't think it's necessarily a sign of commercial failure. Part 2 in a title makes it exclusionary (have you done the required reading?) Lots of casual sales lost.

Time to retire this franchise I think. Jumped the shark soon after Ghost Protocol.

I don't think they were ever that smart to being with. The plot gets lazier sure but the action gets even better each time, which is why I watch these movies.

I find with these films the bad guys are always so forgettable. It's a shame we can't have a good plot and action. But I'll admit they are great for what they are, and Tom Cruise really does give it his all.

I think the Bourne trilogy for example has the action with plot part covered extremely well, so it is possible. As for Mission Impossible, I just want to watch Tom Cruise nearly get himself killed.

I can't remember the last one of these I watched what it was called I mean.
Last one I remember was they were all framed.

Anyway they are good action spectacle films.
Probably like an older gents fast and furious as in less OTT and because cruise does a lot of his own stunts they are more awe inducing.

But I think cruise is getting way too old to continue in this role.
Have him step back and become a mentor and Introduce a new group. If they want to continue it I mean.

I'll pass. Rogue Nation was the last good Mission: Impossible, in my opinion.

I'm also really just tired of movies bringing old characters back "one more time".
