Do you guys enjoy Rush? Ive been dipping my toe in the water as I have two friends who are obsessed, and they were a huge influence on a lot of my favorite metal bands

Really enjoying them so far but not overwhelming myself. I struggle with classic rock, and wish they were a bit heavier overall but connect with the progressive elements. There's a ton of albums and a lot to process.

Only albums ive been going through thus far are Moving Pictures, Hemispheres, and Fly by Night

Rush is one of those bands that I can't stand through no fault of their own. Like, they're obviously good. They are incredibly proficient at the whole music thing. Neil Peart good drummer blah blah.

But it all means nothing to me because of the damn CanConQuota. In Canada we have Canadian Radio/Telegision and Telecommunications Commision (CRTC) requirements, derived from the Broadcasting Act of Canada, saying that 35% of radio content must be Canadian content. To be honest that doesn't even really bother me when taken at face value. It gives a lot of Canadian musicians a chance, otherwise they'd be absolutely smothered by American content. That's fine. Whatever.

My real issue is on jobsites. Everyone defaults to fucking classic rock, and ypically there is one radio just blasting the tunes. So what happens? I hear a handful of songs over and over and over and over. And because Rush only has a handful of "radio" tunes (despite having a massive discography) I hear friggin Limelight and Tom Sawyer and Spirit of Radio over AND OVER AND OVER. It's insane.

So in the end, ultimately, I blame the donkeys on the jobsite who apparently don't know that Spotify exists or even other radio stations ffs.

There's 2 bands I just have no respect for.....KISS and Rush. To each their own but the moment I hear these guys I'm changing the music.

One of the best bands of all time. Neil Peart is one of, if not THE, best percussionists of all time as well. Spirit of Radio and Subdivisions are my favorite Rush songs but there are dozens of them that are legendary.

They're a Canadian band, but it was the head of Konami's QA team in Cali that made me appreciate them.

This one's for you, @Phunkydiabetic:

...that video almost made me want the blue pill. 😩
