Rein it in, ditch the bullet proof jackets, blind wizards and high table Twilight shit and you might have something.
Do a prequel about Wick's early days as an assassin and keep it grounded in (relative) reality.
Four money making, critically acclaimed movies featuring a pop culture icon that will be remembered as Keeanu's best role says you're wrong. In a time when people hate Hollywood the John Wick films are among the few things that both regular every day people and critics can agree has been great. This series is a one-hit wonder. Assassination clan wars is boring, they should have found a way to keep it grounded like the first. Though I'm sure the Ana de Armas spinoff is going to be a hit for no reasons to do with the plot.

And John Wick was never grounded no matter what people like the Critical Drinker say. The first movie was as ridiculous as the sequels. The entire appeal of the first movie was how fucking ridiculous it was with comic book style monologues about "Baba Yaga" and over the top action. I hate when people criticize a franchise for not being something it never was in the first place
Yea things got more and more over the top and silly, but the action is still top notch and well worth a watch.
Fuck the haters, I'm in if this is actually a thing. (Although I'd rather see it brought back down to reality in a prequel too.)
I agree. The fourth one was bloated with a lame ass villain, but the isometric shootout scene with the dragons breath rifles was awesome, shoulda been the finale of the film tbh.
I really am only looking forward to the anime prequel of how Wick became notorious. Honestly I just want a video game. As a toxic male who loves his gun porn I def wouldn't mind another film if it's good. Just lose the damn bullet proof suits. Shit ruined a lot of the tension in action scenes.
I'm not sure. The first film was cool, but once they brought in the bulletproof tailored suits in the second one, things started going downhill. The second film wasn't completely awful—aside from the silly fight with Ruby Rose, who clearly wasn't a credible threat to Wick—but things have really spiralled since then, mainly because the world-building has become so messy.
Agreed. In four especially that whole thing became obnoxious. With the chief bad guy enforcer I keep thinking 'Just shoot him in the foot' in the Tokyo Hotel when they have the lobby fight. Just seeing guys with their jackets pulled up to protect themselves was laughable.
What are you kidding? Watching her act all smug and arrogant only to get completely manhandled by Wick in the end was one of the best parts of the film.
It felt like a weird reaction to the escalating stakes in action scenes. Instead of having Wick utilize cover and tactics more, let's give him The Batman level body armor. It was a dumb move.
I've had my fill after 4. The ending felt like a good final note
Sure, but within the context of her being Santino's principal enforcer, it didn't make a lick of sense that she would be next to fucking useless.
We can agree on that. I just feel like their entire approach was to get more and more bombastic and increasingly dumb. The fight with Mr Creosote|Fat Bastard in 4 was a real case of 'what is this shittu?'
Let alone that the one person who they think is the person to take on Wick, is a blind guy.
Yeah, this was my favorite scene in the movie.I thought that scene was pretty entertaining tbh, even though the guy obviously had zero chance of killing Wick. The music and cinematography was just so good.
