I'll watch it, just like I did 3 & 4. But the only one that is worth owning is the first. They seriously need to drop the High Table shit. Its so lame.

Guess I'm the only one here who thoroughly enjoy these films. I like a good turn your brain off shoot em up.

I enjoyed them all except 4, that was the only one that I never watched a second time. It felt like it would never end.

3 kinda pissed me off because it seemed to end with the same stakes as it began.

2 was cool.

First is the goat

1 was great, but as soon as they introduced the bulletproof tailored suits thing in 2, the gunfights went to shit, although that aspect aside and the park scene I enjoyed 2. The fight with Common on the train I prefer to any of the unmemorable shit in the later films.

3 some good stunts with the Dogs and Halle Berry put in a good turn, but it had a nonsense plot, and 4 was pretty lamentable, especially leaning into the bulletproof suits thing. It's like..just shoot them in the foot dude, then double-tap them in the head when they're lamenting their missing toes.

Zero interest in a 5th tbh, as they'll only make it more absurd versus reeling it back in.

I like in the 3rd one where they drive down a street blowing up a ton of shit, then turn around and go back the way they came but the street was completely clear.

I don't mind a movie where you have to shut your brain off a bit, but that one requires you to be unconscious.

I fell off a cliff on part 4. One of the worst movies I've seen in recent memory. The action is mostly still fine, above average for sure. But Keanu is looking a bit too old to do it or it just wasnt shot as well. And the plot and characters were so bad it actively hurt my ability to enjoy it.

I thought Extraction 2 blows away every John Wick but the 1st one and maybe the 3rd. It has 3 "one shot" takes that are about 30 min. Its not a perfect movie bit it feels like they still have the fire needed to make cutting edge action.

My expectations for Wick 5 are at rock bottom.

Love the first 2, third one is fine. Fourth one is a step above 3 but not major.

John Wick is coolest the less you know about him. I dont need to know more about the John Wick universe. Just keep it simple.

100% agree with all this. The bulletproof suits did so much harm to this series. They look stupid and feels out of place in a series that puts a lot of care into the gunplay scenes.

Part 3's story is completely pointless. He didn't need to visit the Belarusians, go to Morocco, see the Elder, and chop off his finger because when he shows back up in NYC, he decides to spare Winston and have the showdown with the High Table. He could have skipped all that, but instead Wick completely screws over most of his "allies" (the Belarusians, Halle Berry, Fishburne) for nothing in the end. I don't need a great story in a John Wick movie, but having a plot that doesn't invalidate itself would be nice.

As for a Part 5, it feels completely unnecessary. Part 4 still had some of good action scenes, but was far too bloated and Keanu was starting to look a little rickety. Plus the ending was a fine way to close out the series.

Yeah, the whole keanu doesn't age thing is starting to wear a bit thin now for sure.

I also think the problem is the director/writers etc opted to just go louder and louder rather than tighter and smarter.

I think if you kind of compare and contrast with say the Jason Bourne Movies as a counterpoint. The Bourne films largely stick to a formula, in that Bourne overcomes challenges and a few nameless mooks upon the way, but then occasionally that is interspersed with him going up against another highly trained asset and it's a bit more life and death but eventually, Bourne prevails.

Not saying that they should go the same route, but the sheer ludicrousness of the body counts, coupled with everyone being an eccentric character completely divorced from any degree of recognizable reality undermines the stakes. I like the idea that there is this alternative reality but it only works when it is juxtaposed against the everyday.

I honestly can't stand these type of films anymore (not just John Wick). Watching the action sequences feels like a chore.

Nope, I do as well. 4 was long, but I really enjoyed the action in it. The overhead scene that looked like a video game was great. 1 > 4 > 2 > 3

I'm right with you, 1,4,2,3 for me as well. I still enjoy all of these. Best action movies we've had in the last decade.

The first one was great. The second one was fun and had some good action but not as good as the first. The third one went pretty silly but still some fun action and good set pieces. The 4th one was a joyless slog, just going through the motions really and the story made little to no sense at all.

I've lost any interest in any more films in the franchise now. Let it go, time to move on. Plus in the last one Keanu looked a little tired and slow in his action scenes, age probably catching up to him.

I'm glad I'm not the only one it seems, but wick 4 was absolute garbage. Loved the first 3. Big let down. Idk if Keanu is just getting old, but he looked so damn sluggish. It looked obviously choreographed. It was 99% fighting and no real story. Felt like they just built around the fight scenes. Donnie Yen's talent and character felt wasted. And the dialogue consisted of everyone else saying something and wick responding with "yeah...."

That about sums up that one.
