Hype! Hope it's a continuation or soft reboot ala new God of War. Absolutely loved Dead Space franchise, especially the first one.
Same. I want some kind of continuation, not a full reboot.

It's 2021 so it'll either be a reboot or soft reboot starring a middle aged black Muslim trans woman in a wheelchair wearing a Che shirt and sporting a "Free Palestine" pin.

Just as long as it isn't some shitty remaster or rerelease I am down. Honestly it feels like the last gen was re-make central, I just want some new good stuff.
I mean, I'd take a DS collection, up-rez'd, 60fps, 1-3 plus Extraction without motion controls as well.

As far as I know you can play all the PC Dead Space games at any resolution and at any fps rate. Extraction is meh, man. I played through it once on PS3 and it really isn't worth more than one casual playthrough.

These games don't need to be remastered. No PS3/360 era games do. The only thing that might be worth it is a resolution bump to 4k and a FPS increase to make sure they run at 60 FPS, beyond that most games from that era don't look that bad.

Lol my "Fat Neckbearded Slob" got edited out in the thread title.

Anyways this is going to suck if it's just a 4k remaster or whatever.

What's the point? Visceral is dead and EA is going to get their greasy hands in it like they did with Dead Space 3.

So a project that was only awesome cuz it was a raw skunk works initiative, had one good sequel before EA forced out the down syndrome third and is now supposedly being rebooted by Motive with EA corporate blessing... and people are excited? Yikes! Hate to be a downer here... but you cannot go home.

Dead Space reboot, Isaac is now trans-woman (probably black too) and the cult is going to be analogies to Trump supporters. Story is going to be about fighting the white demons.
Well yeah, they don't have good enough lawyers to make it about Scientologists again!

This could be great. Give me:

RT lighting, volumetric fog, some light physics based destruction, upgraded gore.

Sometimes its better to leave a great game dead. I rather they make a new game rather than a virtue signaled reboot.

More interested in the horror game by the original creators of Dead Space (cant remember the name).

Trump cult infusing people with whiteness. We've already learned that whiteness is like a parasite, so the theme is basically available for grabs.

Why a reboot? Dead Space 3's DLC ended on a cliffhanger. Just make Dead Space 4.

Coudn't they just pretend that the 3rd title did not exist yet then and make a sequel of Dead Space 2?
Controversial opinion but I actually really like Dead Space 3. I think finally revealing the end goal and the true nature of the Necromorphs was a really interesting piece of lore. One of my issues with the previous two games was I had absolutely no idea what the Necromorphs were, how they really worked or what their ultimate goal was. Dead Space 3 revealed all that and the end with the giant Brethren Moon was awesome.

Ah well, at least Dead Space 3's base game resolves the plot. It's only the DLC that ends on a cliffhanger and I want that cliffhanger resolved. As I said, make Dead Space 4 rather than a reboot. Apparently, the original plans for Dead Space 4 was also to make Ellie (Isaac's girlfriend) the main character, so if they want "muh female representation", they have it too. Fuck.

All necromorphs are now people of color.

Bad News if this is true.

"An Electronic Arts IP revival teased last weekend is reportedly a reimagining of sci-fi horror series Dead Space.

It was first claimed by journalist Jeff Grubb this weekend that EA was set to announce a new project during its EA Play Live event on July 22, which he had previously claimed was an unnamed “established IP” revival by EA’s Motive studio.

The story was picked up by VGC and other outlets, and now Gematsu has corroborated the report and claimed that the “established IP” is Dead Space.

The Dead Space series first released in 2008 and has not seen a new instalment since 2013’s Dead Space 3. The series’ developer, Visceral Games, was closed by EA in 2017.

According to Gematsu, the new Dead Space game will be a “reimagining” of the series, rather than a straight sequel to the existing trilogy of games."

This doesn't sound good:
Gematsu has also separately heard that a Dead Space revival is in the works at Motive, which is said to be a reimagining rather than a sequel to the existing trilogy.

Does Dead Space really need to be “reimagined”?

I guess without the original team anymore a remaster is probably out of the question as no ones au fait with the code, so a reimagining probably makes sense in that regard.

After DS3 I’m ok with it
