Story

It has been many years now since The Hero restored peace to the land… In a world tormented by the forces of evil, a swordsman and his companions set out to defeat Hadlar, the Dark Lord.

On an isolated island in the southern seas, a boy named Dai lives among monsters, yearning to become a hero himself someday. Everything changes when the Dark Lord is revived.

With a new crisis facing the world, Dai makes a promise to his mentor, encounters new friends, and slowly learns about his own inescapable fate… This is the beginning of Dai's adventure, and his quest to become a true hero!

Looks like the equivalent of World of Dragon Quest, which I'm not sold at all. Looks childish even by DQ's standards.
Story can get pretty dark but it actually manages to be pretty good.

Though I have a bad feeling this won't be much better then any Dragon Ball tie in games. A shame as Adventure of Dai easily has enough content to have been the actual Dragon Quest XII.

The lack of any info on Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake and Dragon Quest XII continues to be frustrating.

The manga and anime are great but I'm keeping my expectations low since it's based on a property that isn't DQ proper.

Curious to see if it's actually fun to play or not. They also have a lot left to cover since it seems this doesn't have all the full story. Maybe a sequel if this sells enough.

I was really hoping SE would retain Dragon Quest as turn based in lieu of the direction which Final Fantasy has taken
Well, in a Japanese interview two years ago, Yuji Horii said for DQ XII that he was going to "completely renew the command battle system".

He said, "The command battle system will change, yes. Having said that, I'm not saying that command battle system will go away. Actually, I'll be changing various things as I create this one, and I think when you play it you'll find it makes things a lot more fun. [...] You can play without feeling that something is off."

If you could look past the childish graphics, World of Final Fantasy was actually a decent game.

Trust in Horii. It'll be good.
My copy is already pre-ordered.

It's not mainline DQ, but I'm still looking forward to this and the DQ: Monsters game releasing soon.
