...who makes my games. Be they man, woman, man-woman, have purple skin or a dick growing out of their forehead. I give absolutely zero shits. All I care is that I enjoy the games I play. All this talk about diversity is so, so, SOOOOOOOOOO boring and absolutely pointless from my perspective. Fight for what you believe in, but don't bother promoting that shit at a games show, during trailers, or other promo materials aimed at me (a gamer), because it's not going to influence my purchasing decision in the slightest. The only thing that will do that is gameplay. I feel I'm very likely not alone, but anyone disagree with this perspective?

No, it's super annoying and jarring how they keep pushing it. New battle pass just came out for warzone, no white men.

It's surprising the lack of white men in that game when most of ww2 was fought by white men.

The real push for diversity is to eliminate white men and it's basically just communism shit. They want the majority to feel bad about who they are for no reason other than the color of their skin

All this shit looks gay and retarded. Also fuck drag queens. Keep your fetish out of this shit.
Are there even any games without stories anymore? I just wanna kill shit not listen to somebody's queer schizo ramblings or whatever the hell all these dumb games are about.

The Thunder Force series was partially created by a programmer that was one of the first open trans game developers. Didn't know about this until recently as I never actively searched for this information. It was simply in a video that was linked here. Nothing of this shines through to the game, nothing like this was ever in adverts for the game.

Games are currently that much agenda loaded that one can make educated guesses about the developer's world views or ideas of sexuality. Or, as the OP wrote, they shove it right into your face during a trailer.

Unfortunately, this shit is endemic at present across all mediums and arenas. In large part, it's all to do with financing and the rise of Ethical Investment metrics, which is all well and good when it's about sustainability and the environment, less so when it's about embracing whatever BS cause happens to be on Twitter that week. Notice how every corporation embraced Pride over the last few years? It's because it raised their scores, which means they can more easily secure financing. It's all utterly absurdist, and more disturbingly outside of any government control. Some entity beholden to no one decides that if you don't support this then you have a poor score, and therefore securing loans (which is part and parcel of business) suffers.

Meh. I am OK with it. It's just marketing.
You really shouldn't let it get you down at all.

As I get older I have to say that advertising, mainstream culture etc just seem more and more disconnected from me but that kind of makes sense. This is how things are sold now.

When I see it I just cringe though. Oh my god they are so pathetically limp-wristed and lame and everything is all about getting pats on the head for being a good little progressive.

It's pretty funny though because the people they are marketing to are some of the angriest and most miserable cunts out there.

Some of these games like Life is Strange etc I feel that the people who like them and play them should be pretty chill individuals who are OK to chat with and that. Instead they have a boiling rage just under the surface and if you happen to go against them on anything they freak the fuck out. Try posting on ResetEra with any kind of differing opinion. They will banish you from their community so fast.

Unfortunately, they have their own little section of the gaming industry and they bitch and moan constantly so they have to be pandered to.

It's not easy to ignore but honestly the best thing you can do is just laugh at them and be selective about who you want to give your money too and which products you want to buy.

I long for the day when I could play games without giving too much thought of the people who made them.

Look, I can respect the people who put the effort into making games that made an impact. Hearing their stories is interesting, like Alexey Pajitnov inventing Tetris while still living under the Soviet Union.

What I do not give a shit about are 'stunning and brave' developers using their ethnicity or gender identity to sell us their shit. The product they make is what matters in the end.

I don't like it either, but it's outside my sphere of influence to do anything about it.

I will be happy when the truly underrepresented people of these underrepresented populations finally lift their voices to let the industry know, "Hey, it's not okay with me for you to use my culture or identity to market your products and pad your bottom line. Those people over there who share my culture or identity do not speak for all of us. Kindly remove my culture from your marketing -- we are not your tools."

I think this could very well come to pass since lately I'm beginning to hear that there are Asian and Hispanic people who are speaking out against the wholesale co-opting of their cultures by these ideological movements.

I heard the pieces were all non-binary...

Ideal play still amounts to stuffing the phallus piece into the hole formed by the lesser pieces

It got tiresome for me because it's the exact same messages and the exact same virtue signaling BS all the time. Give me grey areas, a new spin, various perspectives, be creative.

But it just feels like blatantly crammed in forced ideology. It simply has to be in there!

Thunderforce is the shit. Kudos to the creator for creating such a cool game.

Even after such a long time I think the gaming industry is still desperately looking for validation. After years of basically being considered as toys for boys and manchildren the industry is trying to hard to correct that perception.

It doesn't help when some people seem to genuinely believe that, for example, if gamers play a game as a female character it provides some kind of crazy life altering insight. Or if you realise that a team of trans developers made that game you like then somehow you will think that trans people are super cool now.

Its completely pointless in the end because you can virtue signal as hard as you but if your game looks like shit then people won't play it. Otherwise there would have been some mainstream explosion of games like "Depression Quest" by now.
