Hey Dpadders, I want to vent about how I miss PlatinumGames' glory days or the "old PlatinumGames", a period of time a little before or during the early 2010s where it felt like basically any game they put out was a cult classic game. They were on fire in a sense. During that time period they really did feel like the successors to Capcom Production Studio 4/Clover Studio. The Bayonettas, Metal Gear Rising, MadWorld, Vanquish, The Wonderful 101, even more niche stuff like Anarchy Reigns and some of the licensed stuff was quite decent despite what haters would say. In between releases of their games in that period, I'd check their online blog for a closer look on how their games are made....I recall posts like how they would first make a sword slash as best animated as they could make it, then cut frames from it to enhance the gameplay responsiveness of the animation. Details like that establish to me that PlatinumGames really is a gameplay first developer, and that they have the fire for videogames. There was a turning point at 2016 with the cancellation of ScaleBound...if I'm not mistaken the leadership change happened around then too. Ever since, they did put out good games like NieR: Automata and Astral Chain...but something changed about the company in my eyes. I'm sure a certain amount of the staff from the old PlatinumGames are still there. But their game releases have been less frequently released, and things seem too quiet with them. Having games like Bayonetta 3 and Babylon's Fall announced only to go radio silent on them afterwards. There was some recent ish excitement from PlatinumGames when they did the Platinum 4 announcement gimmick, a clever reference to the Capcom 5 announcements by Capcom Production Studio 4. But asides from that, I hope PlatinumGames can break free from this current dark age they're in, I miss their brand of games that put them on the map in the first place
